My wife and I stayed at the Castle Inn for five nights during my first visit to San Francisco in early December 2015. The room was clean, comfortable and more than adequate in size. The Castle Inn is not an upscale hotel by any means, but you get more than you pay for in location, the convenience of on-site parking,... More

I had outpatient surgery in SF and had to be at the surgeons office the next morning for a post surgery check up. We decided to spend the night in the city but a convention had boosted prices through the ceiling. Using this website we found the Castle Inn. It was adequate for our needs and within walking distance of... More

small hotel in good location in San francisco. big clean rooms with place to sit, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, etc. bit run down but clean and comfortable. Rooms in the front get some of the busy street noise. not too bad but if you are sensitive try to avoid them. small "breakfast" of yoghurt and processed packaged sweet pastries- nothing... More

This was my second trip to San Francisco with my husband to visit family who live in the bay area. We stayed for 3 nights Oct-Nov 2015. We were looking for a good value with a safe location and Castle Inn met our needs. We had a king room on the 3rd floor at the front of the hotel. Interestingly,... More

It sounds like you are sharing a room with EVERY single guest here. Front desk (Damon) is super nice, he was very informative of what to do and where to stay away from. But the stay- ohh my goodness. Doors slamming through the entire night, conversations, and road traffic are all super loud. Even when someone usues the water you... More

Had a couple of days in San Francisco and looked for accommodation that was reasonably priced. The Castle Inn was in walking distance to the Piers (30-40 minutes) depending on where you were going. We requested a room away from the road and up high if possible (as other reviewers had written) and were given a great room up and... More

It was really nice for the price I paid, the room was nice and clean and the TV worked, however the ice machine didn't work while I was there. It close enough to the pier so you can walk, the staff gave us a map and told us how to get to china town and little Italy. And the staff... More

Hesitant to write a raving review for this place for fear that it will be booked up when I need it. We stay here a few days each month because it's hands down the best value you'll find in San Francisco. Free (albeit limited) parking, renovated, large, clean and comfortable rooms that have refrigerators, air conditioning (window/wall units), free internet,... More

Just stayed one night on a road trip. Got our room using Hotel Tonight. Certainly not new or fancy but great location, clean and comfortable beds. This town is one of the priciest in the US so we were thrilled! Both the night clerk and the morning clerks were exceptional. Friendly and informative- helped make our short stay perfect!

We did book this hotel for four nights. The price is not expansive, especially because you have free parking. The rooms where big and really clean. The staff is friendly. Dont expect to much from breakfast, not much to choose from. The hotel is good situated, we shure would stay here again.

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
