I would not normally see the point of writing the 956th review of any place, but I'll make an exception for the Columbus Motor Inn; for it offers remarkable value ($128/night, with free parking) in this expensive city, and an ideal North Beach location. Given these advantages, I expected some kind of econo-lodge, but instead had a spacious, nicely furnished... More

The hotel is in a very convenient location and has free parking. The rooms are definitely dated. About the only amenity beside free parking is the coffeepot. We stayed in an amazing hotel the night before, so maybe I'm too critical. Our room was streetside, and it was noisy. I thought the room/hotel could have been cleaner. My husband said he... More

This is a no frills motel and great place to stay. We have stayed here on 2 separate occasions each for only a night. This is a clean, comfortable place to stay with no major amenities but one major draw, Free Parking! Good location, coffee pot for morning.... Thats all we needed. For longer stays I would choose another hotel... More

For the price and the things you get such as free parking and free wifi and the size of the room, you can't beat this hotel. We had 3 queen size beds for our room with 4 adults and one room was separated from the other which was nice to have.

I stayed twice in this hotel during this spring and have only positive impressions. The hotel has a fantastic location, being at a fairly quite part of Columbus avenue, but close to the cable cars' end stop and the Fisherman's wharf. Nearby the hotel you find Bimbo's 365 Club with live jazz and rock music, which is really worth visiting.... More

We stayed at the Columbus Inn for 2 nights in April. Granted it is not the Ritz, but the room was clean and beds were comfortable. Free parking was a major plus. We parked our vehicle and walked everywhere we desired to go. Only 4 blocks to Fisherman's Wharf, and only blocks away from Chinatown and Little Italy. Air conditioning... More

This was our third stay at the Columbus Motor Inn; we chose to return because of the good location and free parking. The rooms are dated, but clean (except for the stained carpets). This time we were placed in a 2nd floor room facing the street; we heard the guests from the upper floor, but that didn't bother us too... More

As title this is best value for money in area. The room is clean although don't expect modern environment. House keeping did good job! Our room was well appointed and clean although did smell a bit frowsty. Although you get used to it! The staff at front desk in morning we're welcoming although older gentleman in late afternoon was very... More

We chose this hotel mainly because of the free parking but quickly realized that it was also a great location. We stayed for four nights and found we had easy walking access to just about everything. Our room was a king room on the third floor facing Columbus Ave and loved the view. We had the fan running at night... More

we spent 2 nights here as a return trip to our honeymoon city. I chose this place for the FREE parking ( something that is impossible in San Francisco) , location, location and location. This hotel is walking distance to many things that you want to do in SF. It is right across the the street from 2 great bars!... More

Staying in Russian Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
