The Francisco Bay Inn reminded me of motels I used to share with friends at the Jersey shore. You have to be buzzed into the small office, the rooms open to an outside walkway and the amenities probably look ok if you're 19 and have been drinking all night. The door to the room didn't feel very secure and even... More

Looking at a small map of San Francisco, it would appear this is close to everything, it's not. The walk to Fishermans Wharf was deceivingly longer than expected but it's the walk up the steep Lombard Street hill (and other hills actually), that you dont appreciate on a 2D map. Having said that the price represented the location insofar as... More

Stayed at the Francisco Bay Inn from Dec 16-21 with the gf and we have zero complaints! Hotel staff was excellent through out our stay which included a late night check in and early morning check out. Room was small but clean and comfortable. Bed was big and comfortable. Bathroom was clean! Location is very good. just down the street... More

I was a little worried, because this Inn is on Lombard Street, in a very busy section of San Francisco. Since it was reasonably priced, I thought it may not be a "nice" place. It was great. Very clean, and the employees were very nice. I saw reviews about the noise, but I slept very well, and we were right... More

This hotel is a hidden gem. It has an elevator, very clean rooms, & a very friendly and helpful staff. It is located in a very convenient location and there is free parking. there are some restaurants nearby that are very good. I would stay there again.

If you are looking for a clean, relatively comfortable place to stay in an excellent location in SF, this is your place. Very affordable, paid $130/night (before taxes). It is kind of noisy, but a lot of places in SF are. Heck, a lot of hotels/inns/motels are. They give you ear plugs though, and that takes care of the problem.... More

This hotel is in a great location, less than a mile from pier 39, fishermans wharf, and ghirardelli square, as well as right near the crooked part of Lombard. The hotel is very clean, with lots of amenities in the room like mini fridge, microwave, iron, blow dryer etc. they also provide earplugs because it is located at the end... More

Stayed here 3 days as part of my multi state usa trip. Budget conscious so staying in 3 star where suitable. This hotel is perfectly rated for what they provide. Reception staff are very welcoming and go out if their way to assist. Room was neat and clean. Hotel is located in lombard st which never sleeps, so if you... More

What a great place to stay! The hotel was close to public transportation and was in a safe neighborhood. The room was very clean and the bedding comfortable. The noise from Lombard was sometimes loud. However, ear plugs were provided. I am definitely staying here when I come back to San Fran!

Very-very noisy room with window facing to busy Lombard street. Earplugs did not help. Breakfast (coffee and turnovers) everybody must eat in their room, but we had only one chair and no table! For the second night we ask to change our room for king size bed - that we originally paid while booking. It was not available upon our... More

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
