I don't really expect much from this sort of Hotel/Motel, but I was really disappointed in this one we didn't arrive in San Francisco until after 10pm due to flight delays and it was nearly 11pm when we checked in, as they advertise Tea/Coffee making facilities in the Room, we though we would have a cuppa then just bed down,... Probably one of the better value budget hotels in SF. Make sure to use the provided ear plugs, especially if you have a room near Lombard St like I did. I also had someone above me playing loud music and stomping around. Room was clean and staff were nice.

The location was really good - walking distance (15 mins) to the marina/fishermans wharf, and a couple of blocks from the buses and trams which connect with the rest of the city. The area is not dodgy at all, even at night we felt really safe. Free car parking! Room was a little dated but great value for money and... More

Stayed here for 3 nights with a friend visiting the city. I was a bit weary about this hotel due to all the negative reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. We had a room with two beds. There is also a desk with a chair, small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, chest of drawers, flat screen TV, and a rack to hang... More

Spent 3 nights in this hotel. The chek-in process was extremely slow. Took forever and seemed rather unprofessionel. Room was small and smelly, however the bathroom was really big and the shower had good water pressure. Traffic noise wasn't as bad as expected but if you are a light sleeper earplugs are recommended (and provided by the hotel). The room... More

Travelling with a friend on the west coast; we stayed here 4 nights. The personel is nice & will help you find your way in the city. Room is ok , Breakfast too. Parking & wifi free ? sounds good to me. Location is perfect and quite close to the marina area (alcatraz, ferrys, fisherman s wharf etc) If you plan... More

The Francisco Bay Inn reminded me of motels I used to share with friends at the Jersey shore. You have to be buzzed into the small office, the rooms open to an outside walkway and the amenities probably look ok if you're 19 and have been drinking all night. The door to the room didn't feel very secure and even... More

Looking at a small map of San Francisco, it would appear this is close to everything, it's not. The walk to Fishermans Wharf was deceivingly longer than expected but it's the walk up the steep Lombard Street hill (and other hills actually), that you dont appreciate on a 2D map. Having said that the price represented the location insofar as... More

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
