This hotel is the perfect one to stay at if you're looking to explore pacific heights (Union Street and Chestnut Street). Not for people who are new to SF. We received great service from Oscar and Phil at front desk. Never got a chance to use the pool but it looked great and was heated.

Family suite on the third floor with queen bed in one room and a trundle in the other. Bathroom was small but for five days was doable. Continental breakfast was perfect and the afternoon cookie break was loved by both my girls. Before our visit I called and spoke with Tiffany on several different items and each time was met... Took my daughters (11 & 8) for a girls valentines weekend get away. They LOVED the hammocks in the center of the property. The hotel is in the best location walking distance to Chestnut and Union, safe and plenty to do around there. We even walked down to the marina, rented bikes and rode to the Golden Gate Bridge -... This wonderfulm property is a gem. The staff are attentive and professional. Their recommendations of area sites and eateries is top-notch. They constantly "aim to please". The folks at the front desk recommended Home Plate for breakfast and it was exactly the kind of "local" place we were looking for.

I took a chance and stayed here with my family instead of a "big box" hotel chain like we normally do because we know we will have a great experience. Well my chance paid off! Hotel Del Sol was a great stay! First and foremost I want to thank Oscar at the front desk. He was very pleasant upon our... More

We made a reservation at the Del Sol on a short holiday to the Bay area with our two small children and were very happy with our stay. The hotel is near the Marina district in a residential area but reasonably close to the usual tourist haunts (Union Sq, Pier 39 are a short cab ride away). They also offer... More

We usually stay around Union Square or near the Bay Bridge/Giant stadium. This time we wanted to stay in a different area and found this cute little place in Cow Hollow near the Presidio/Fort Green. The neighbor is residential with nearby commercial streets with plenty of shops and restaurants. The hotel staff were helpful, the room newly updated and decorated... More

I chose Hotel Del Sol after much research on the internet because of it's convenient location in the Marina District and received good reviews from people who had stayed there. It has a cute retro vibe with bright colors and fun decor in the rooms. My room and bathroom were VERY clean and comfortable. I am going to San Francisco... More

As always, comfortable, quiet room, friendly helpful service, all in a unique atmosphere convenient for Union Street and other locations. Rooms are clean and large -- only downside is that breakfast is so what limited -- but then there are great breakfast places on Union or in the Marina in easy walking distance

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
