I have stayed in 3 or 4 of the Joive de ve hotels and never been disappointed. They are cool looking and have great little touches that make them special. Not to mention that it is hard to find a hotel that does not practice breed discrimination and have inflated fees for no reason. This was comperable to motel 6... More

We made our booking via Hotel.com, stating that we were 3 children (even the ages were stated) and 2 adults. At the hotel we were not accommodated according to our booking. The hotel did not even have a room suitable for 5 people! Our room had but a queen size bed and a small pull-out sofa. Hotel Management told us... More

Had to find a last minute spot near downtown San Francisco for a conference (first time in the city)- was panicking due to price/location of available hotels. When I read the reviews of the Del Sol, I was hooked on this quirky, retro hotel. (I also believe that any hotel that allows dogs must be inherently awesome....) The reviews say... More

I forget how I found this place, but I spent 4 nights there. To be honest, a major reason I chose it was because originally their website said free parking, at least during my research phase. By the time I made my reservation the website reflected a $10/night parking fee, which is still somewhat reasonable by San Francisco standards. The... More

Well, I have mixed feelings on our last stay at Hotel Del Sol. I guess you always compare your experience if you came a second time. It is still very interesting hotel. Our kids enjoyed hamacs. Location is ok as you can walk or ride to any SF tourist place. Wifi was decent as a complimentary thing. Unfortunately some things... More

The price was right and the location is nice, but I wouldn't stay here again. This is simply an old motel that was redone...but it is still an old motel. The staff was nice and someone really made an effort to fix the place up so I don't want to be overly critical, but I will not be back.

Hotel del Sol is a simple but attractive former motel remade into a "boutique" hotel. It's not fancy, but it's a very pleasant place to stay for a trip to San Francisco. We are a family of four (mom, dad and two 'tween girls) and we were very comfortable in their standard room. They DO offer a kind of mini-suite... More

It is not located at the Union Square environment, but, I think the location is better. Even a bus away Union Square (10 min ride), Hotel del Sol is located in a very nice neighbourhood, with plenty of stores and bars, and a 10 min walk from Fort Mason. The rooms are clean and very correct. Bathroom is small but... More

I stayed at the Hotel del Sol in San Francisco at 3100 Webster Street early December 2014 during the great wind an rain storm. The hotel is a basic motel-style building. the hotel was not very busy at the time of year and due to the weather. Due to the weather no one used the pool, so I don't know... More

Great service, accommodation, what more do you want. I went with my wife and spent a total of 7 nights there but unfortunately we were unable to use the Pool and Seating area throughout our stay due to renovation. We would recommend to all!

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
