We stayed at the Coventry for 5 days and had a wonderful time. The room was spacious and very clean. The location is excellent. Free parking is a great feature. .we parked our car and never had to worry about it. Looking forward to our next stay at the Coventry!

Not bad location, was good for what we wanted - to be near to the marina and Golden Gate Bridge side of town. Found ourselves doing a lot of walking, which up and down the San Francisco hills is tiring so when we got back to our base each evening it was nice to be near to some restaurants and... More

Great little hotel. Clean, modern, fair price, reasonably secure. We would DEFINITELY stay here again the next time we are in SFO. The fellow at the front desk was very professional and helpful. The Coventry is within walking distance to everywhere you need to go and there are a gazillion restaurants nearby.

Our first night in San Francisco and the Coventry gave us a safe and free place to park. The room was large and clean and comfortable. The decor is blah. There are two nice diners very nearby that serve good breakfasts. That part of town is quieter and easy to navigate. Hop on hop off buses stop nearby. By far,... More

It's hard to find a reasonable location to stay in SF. However, the Coventry Motor Inn offers affordable and clean rooms near Downtown. Ask for a room in the back of the motel. Lombard Street is quite noisy... Would stay there again. For breakfast I recommend Homeplate Restaurant a few blocks away on Lombard.

We thoroughly enjoyed our five days at the Coventry during our stay in San Francisco. It was inexpensive for a hotel in San Francisco. The hotel is older and the decor shows it, but the rooms were clean. The staff was friendly and informative. The parking garage was an added bonus and free, so we didn't have to worry about... More

The hotel is old and dated which really shows. Bathroom wallpaper coming up from the corners and tired carpet on the floor. Do not expect 5 star accommodations...or even 3 star. I stayed here because of the good tripadvisor rating and the price seemed reasonable as hotels in the top 20 for SF on tripadvisor are typically $400 plus a... More

The main thing I recommend is to book directly through the hotel. We booked through a travel agent who then booked through Expedia and when we arrived to the hotel we arrived to find out that our booking had been cancelled by Expedia back in December (we travelled in May). The guy at the reception was very accommodating and got... More

We chose this motel as reasonably priced but mainly because it had free on site parking which is rare in S.F. Staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The room was large with a good sized bathroom and was very clean. Rather than using the car in this very busy city we chose to use the buses - the stops were... More

Really nice stay at this hotel, which was in a nice area (safe walking around at night), not far from beach area. Rooms were very nice with good facilities.Really good local breakast diners. Would recommend if you are looking for something in the $150-$175 dollars per night price range.

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
