It's hard to find a reasonable location to stay in SF. However, the Coventry Motor Inn offers affordable and clean rooms near Downtown. Ask for a room in the back of the motel. Lombard Street is quite noisy... Would stay there again. For breakfast I recommend Homeplate Restaurant a few blocks away on Lombard.

We thoroughly enjoyed our five days at the Coventry during our stay in San Francisco. It was inexpensive for a hotel in San Francisco. The hotel is older and the decor shows it, but the rooms were clean. The staff was friendly and informative. The parking garage was an added bonus and free, so we didn't have to worry about... More

The hotel is old and dated which really shows. Bathroom wallpaper coming up from the corners and tired carpet on the floor. Do not expect 5 star accommodations...or even 3 star. I stayed here because of the good tripadvisor rating and the price seemed reasonable as hotels in the top 20 for SF on tripadvisor are typically $400 plus a... More

The main thing I recommend is to book directly through the hotel. We booked through a travel agent who then booked through Expedia and when we arrived to the hotel we arrived to find out that our booking had been cancelled by Expedia back in December (we travelled in May). The guy at the reception was very accommodating and got... More

We chose this motel as reasonably priced but mainly because it had free on site parking which is rare in S.F. Staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The room was large with a good sized bathroom and was very clean. Rather than using the car in this very busy city we chose to use the buses - the stops were... More

Really nice stay at this hotel, which was in a nice area (safe walking around at night), not far from beach area. Rooms were very nice with good facilities.Really good local breakast diners. Would recommend if you are looking for something in the $150-$175 dollars per night price range.

We stayed here for a weekend and found it perfect... The room was very spacious although the bathroom was very small but nothing major as wasn't interested in spending time in the bathroom!!! The beds were so comfy I didn't want to get up in the morning. The guy on reception was super helpful as we hadn't booked a transfer... More

Coventry offers a clean and spacious room. Nothing flash but great for the price. We suggest you walk to Chestnut street which runs next to Lomard for a great range of restaurants and shops. The only suggestion we have is a kettle.

We are leaving here tomorrow, sadly, but will never forget our stay in this incredible, impeccible facility. I am not one to stay at anything that has the word "Inn" as part of its' name. That usually translates to cramped, old, and noisy because of the thin walls, the exact opposite here. Location: The facility is located at the corner... More

You're right on a busy street so you get to hear incessant honking from the natives. It's like falling asleep (and waking up) to the soothing sound of nature. It's a great location for walking to the pier. Just the right distance to see dozens of homeless people and shifty eyed citizens. You'll love it.

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
