The Coventry Motor Inn located in the Marina district on the corner of Lombard and Buchanan Streets. We stayed here 4 nights and were very pleased with the accommodations they offer here. My criteria for a hotel is clean, quiet and comfortable. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. The traffic noise is diminished if you use... More

We have been staying here for over 10 years. Never disappoints. Free parking is a bonus in this city. When we arrive we go across the street to the little market and get some snacks and drinks. Then we take off and walk to Pier 39. Pass Fort Mason, the Ghirardelli chocolate factory and then down to the beach. It's... More

Location. Location. Location! We stayed here for one night while passing through town. The room was comfy and clean, included parking was a plus, and the location can't be beat! The Lombard facing rooms can be a bit noisy with street noise but we didn't mind. Two blocks away at Fort Mason we were able to go for a run... More

Very pleased with our stay here at The Coventry. Booked well in advance as I wanted a quiet room away from the noisy streets - they put us in a middle room which had no walls facing a street but was surrounded by other rooms. Besides the ice maker by our room, and the occasional loud guest in the hallway,... More

We stayed here two nights. We were on the 3rd floor, corner room. The traffic was a bit loud, but not unbearable. Easy walk to restaurants. The employees were extremely helpful. Parking is included but might be a bit difficult if you have a very large SUV. The room was clean and everything worked well. We would definitely stay here... More

The location is great, walking distance from most of the tourist attractions making it a great base. Staff really friendly, free parking and great rates, rooms comfortable and clean. No breakfast option but plenty of places nearby.

I told the long-time night manager I would have to bash this place, because it is *too crowded* these days. So there it is. If you hate staying in a place that is so full there is almost no place to park your car anymore, go elsewhere (though in that case, I would suggest one of their other properties). The... More

Not easy to find an affordable hotel in SF, but this is probably the best value. The location is great (we walked to the Wharf and to the GG Park (long walk!) from the hotel). Lots of things to do nearby. We found a very nice new breakfast restaurant (Eight am) on our way to the Wharf. The very kind... More

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
