An excellent value for what it is - a three star hotel. Though the rooms are a bit small and showing their age and the lobby a bit utilitarian, the Chancellor works hard to provide four/five star amenities in the room (iron, safe) and lobby (cookies, concierge, etc.). Great location. I recommend the hotel room and parking 'bundle' - very... More

With a selection of pillows, a great location, friendly staff and an amazing price, we were completely happy with everything about this hotel... except that it's in San Francisco. Ah well, you can't have it all.

Thank you. I think we may have a new tag line for our advertising and we can go after the super hero market. More

My wife and I stayed their after a business meeting I attended in San Jose, CA. A friend suggested this hotel and she described it perfectly. Great Location, Clean Rooms, and Friendly knowledgably staff. We are not interested in getting caught up in the tourist traps of the city. The staff knew exactly where to send us for some Great... I have stayed at the Chancellor on 2 occasions, the last being Feb 2006. I would like to say that I think this hotel is really good. The rooms are kept very clean, nice and bright, beds are comfortable too. This hotel enjoys a great location on Union Square for everything. Very convenient to catch the cable car too. Yes... More

Let me give you a long overdue apology...I am sorry about the baggage service. We are not perfect by any stretch of the imagination and we do make mistakes and have problems. However, we should ALWAYS at least apologize when those things happen. Let me know when you come back again and I will make it up to you. Thanks. More

The Chancellor is exactly what I expected based on most of the reviews here--brilliantly located, inexpensive, staffed by nice people and a bit quirky because it is an older structure. Plus it's right around the corner from Dottie's True Blue Cafe, where I had the best breakfast of my life! My room was against a shared wall with the adjacent... More

i chose this hotel because of the reviews on tripadvisor - and the location was very central - just off union square - a short walk down the hill brought you to the cable car to fishermans wharf, and the shopping mall. the room wasn't as spacious as some other hotels i've stayed in but considering the location you couldn't... My husband and I loved staying at the Chancellor Hotel when we visited San Francisco for the first time last June. We are planning on going again this year, and plan on staying there again. The service was perfect, and we loved the charm of the building as well as the friendly people who worked there. The selection of pillows... More

We just returned for a long weekend celebrating my wife's birthday in San Francisco. We decided to stay at the Chancellor based on the reviews we read on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. It is true that this is an older property and the rooms are small, but they are spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The rooms have nice... More

I had the pleasue of staying at the Chancellor Hotel for 2 days during the Macworld Conference this year. It was my first time to stay here, but certainly not the last. I booked a quiet room on a higher floor, and they delivered. I didn't come to San Francisco for a view -- I came to see the city... More

A short note to add to the "yes" votes for this hotel. You simply cannot beat the location -- or the price. The staff were professional, knowledgable and courteous. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Your laptop won't connect with the wi-fi in the rooms? See the front desk, they'll give you an ethernet cable and you can log on... More

Thank you for recognizing our efforts. There is only so much we can do with a 92 year old hotel and we try our best. However, some things can not be changed and we are what we are. More
