Stayed here in June loved the location of the place with the cable cars right outside and the square. Totally recommend. Staff were very helpful. Nice hotel room. The concierge desk was very helpful and the hotel help with the parking at a discounted rate.

We couldn't recommend this hotel enough! You get what you pay for, a beautiful room, friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere, perfect location. We would come and stay here again in a heartbeat. Pillow menu was cool, we didn't use it though! A little loud as our room was 2nd floor, facing the road, but we liked that! Great great stay!!

Just came back from our second stay at the Chancellor. It was just as wonderful as our first stay (I wrote a more in depth review before). This is in a prime location in Union Square. We stayed on the 14th floor-high enough so it was not too noisy with the windows open. Everything was clean-we love our pillow menu... More

The staff was welcoming upon our arrival. We were offered the choice of a quiet room or noisy room with a view--I appreciate the honesty! We took a quiet room that still had a slight view of the city. The room was bigger than I expected (we have stayed in much smaller boutique hotels in NYC). The location was fantastic.... More

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at the Chancellor Hotel in Union Square. It is true what other reviewers have stated in that location is everything! The hotel is located on Powell Street, a major street that runs through the downtown area. You can literally step out of the door to find endless restaurants and shopping in either direction; the... We stayed for 6 nights, the room was on the 14th floor (I requested top floor based on the reviews here in tripadvisor and they were right) and it was nice, clean, with a walk-in closet, a bath tub, safe deposit box, minibar that you can actually use and a street view. The outside noise is completely tolerable for me... More

This hotel is located in a fantastic position. The trams go right by the front door. We found it to be walking distance from the bay and the piers. Breakfast was nice with very helpful servers. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Nice clean linens and towels. Parking is easy we didn't use the valet and found the... More

Value is a relative thing. In most places $200 for a small room is a premium price. But in places like San Francisco where the Marriotts and Hiltons charge $280-375 for their standard room, it's a bargain, especially given that it's so centrally located. Do be aware, though, that while San Francisco seldom gets hot at night, it does sometimes.... More

Chancellor hotel is amazing. Centrally located in the heart of Union Square. The hotel was the first tallest building in San Fran, when it was built 101 years ago. The hall ways are small but thats due to the way the hotel was built back in the day. It is just a lovely hotel you have to see if for... More

This was my second visit , the location is fantastic with the cable cars right outside .. its on Union Square so fab shopping just moments away. Chinatown about 5 minutes walk. I stayed in room 1104 and our room window was facing onto Union Square . Only the usual city street noise at night which I felt added to... More
