This was my first San Francisco experience and the Chancellor Hotel made it fantastic. The staff at the front desk were always eager to provide information and maps and recommendations, the door man could be hit and miss however. The bed was extremely comfortable, as were the pillows and the pillow menu was an added quirk, alongside the jar of... More

with its perfect location a couple of steps away from the starting point of the cable car and important bus lines, this hotel is an ideal starting point to explore the city I ended up liking the room better than the previously seen pictures; while the room was quite big and new, the bathroom was old - but this wasn't... Union Square is a great location to launch your San Francisco vacation. All the big named hotels are there...and I checked all the prices...we saved at least $100 per night and as much as $300 per night...all those hotels were within one block. We had many a nice meal with the money we saved. The hotel is lovely with a... More

We've always made The Chancellor Hotel our hotel of choice whenever we visit San Francisco! Great location within walking distance or on Cable Car line to Fisherman's Warf, Chinatown, and Union Square. The Hotel is very nice with an old charm! Rooms are nice and service can't be beat. Restaurant has great food! The concierge were incredible and went above... More

My family of four adults recently booked two adjoining rooms at the Chancellor Hotel for our first visit to san fransisco and were delighted. We could not recommend more highly the service of the staff, the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms, the value and the location. The complimentary tea, coffee, chilled water and cookies available were a great bit... More

Steven at check in was very nice and helpful. I have travelled to San Fran many times first time at this hotel and honestly it was because of the cost. Got a good rate on bookings.com I read a review about the size of tech rooms etc and u must keep in mind it is inner city rooms will be... More

We were pleasantly surprised to find the Chancellor so perfectly located in Union Square. A small boutique hotel but so friendly with all the amenities. Trolley car pick up right out your front door, BART just down the street, shopping, restaurants, etc. The place doesn't have AC, but the windows open and they have a ceiling fan. I'm told not... Recently stayed at Chancellor Hotel while attending a conference at the Moscone Center. It was about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. The hotel itself is fine, clean, very friendly service, and well maintained considering the age of the building. However, the rooms are a bit cramped considering the price.

I am really confused. They knew the price before they booked the hotel and it must have been acceptable at that point compared to the other choices. I assume they read the reviews and looked at the many pictures of the rooms on this site. Then they arrive and find the hotel a short walk to the convention, clean, VERY... More

If you haven't guessed already - the location was excellent! I literally jumped off a cable car outside the hotel - or jumped on a cable car to the end of the hill. Free coffee 247 in the lobby which was brilliant! Really friendly staff that helped with any & all questions I had. Rooms were okay, nice & clean... More

Once again, I am confused when people title their post with "Location" written three times with an exclamation point, use words like "excellent," "brilliant," "really friendly" and "nice & clean" but arrive at an overall raring or average. People may not agree with me, but if I am judging a hotel and it is in an excellent location, that is... More
