This hotel was absolutely lovely to stay in, it has an older high end charm but with a wonderful price for San Fran. The staff was super helpful AND happy to help! The only thing was I had no A/c, but we never noticed that during our stay :) and is right next to union square, so you're in the... More

Stayed here for 2 nights in august 2015. Was in room 1107. We had been here a few years before and we liked it then and we like it now. The hotel is not modern, but that is ok by us. It was Built in 1915 or so and it does have smaller rooms than a modern hotel, but it... More

This is the third time we have stayed at the Chancellor. You really cannot beat the location and price. We do not rent a car and public transportation is just steps away. We can get anywhere in a relatively short period of time. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. We use the concierge desk quite often and they have... More

Rooms are nice, clean - a little on the small side. This is the perfect room for a short trip if you want to stay in Union Square for a few nights. The hotel is older but the furniture seemed nice. Booked this hotel because of the location and the price, I was not disappointed.

The Chancellor is a great place to stay in SF without having to pay the exorbitant prices of other nearby hotels. Nice rooms, amenities, beds. Pillow menu was fun. Coffee, tea, cookies, etc., in lobby are a nice treat. No a/c, room wasn't hot, just a little stuffy, so we opened windows for air flow. Yes, noisy at all hours... More

Everything was excellent. Especially the doorman who has been with you for +40 years. He dispensed invaluable local knowledge to us. My only problem was with one of the bartenders. She shall remain anonymous for this purpose. However, for a small hotel bar that would seem, as if in my opinion and fellow Mom + Pop food service owner, she would... More

After travelling up the west coast of America, San Francisco was our final destination. It was literally a five minute walk away from dropping the rental car off. When we got to the hotel we were warmly greeted by the receptionist. My husband and I were celebrating our ten year wedding anniversary and so were upgraded to the top floor;... More

First of all, this is San Francisco and space is very expensive. Don't expect the size of room you get in the suburbs. That said, a fantastic hotel. Perfect and friendly front desk experience. The location is great, right on Union Square and directly on the cable car line. Tons of dining and shopping in every direction and a completely... More

We had a pleasant stay at the Chancellor Hotel. Location is wonderful, right on top of union square. We knew beforehand not to expect huge, air-conditioned rooms, so the rather limited room size came as no surprise to us, nor did it bother us in the least - quite the opposite in fact, we found it rather quaint. Staff was... More
