Great Hotel. But the parking is terrible. We chose to go the more expensive valet route and could never find a spot in front of the hotel to park our car. We also had room key that hardly worked it often took 6 or more tries to open the door. Staff was very friendly. Nice location.

Parking definitely is not our best feature. We have the small white zone in front of the hotel for passenger loading and unloading as well as valet pick up and drop off - it can get busy during peak times. Sorry about that! When one stays in a premier location like ours, we would always suggest not having a car.... More

Great location. Very good hotel. Clean. Would stay again. It was located by the cable cars and the cars go directly to fisherman's Wharf. I will stay again on my next visit to San francisco. My husband and I had no complaints about the bed . We were here just for a short stay and I must say San Francisco... More

My 11 yr old daughter and I took a 5 day trip to San Francisco before the new school year started. This hotel fit the bill perfectly. Its a beautiful, historic hotel in a fabulous shopping district close to all public transit. We decided we were going to be tourists this trip. Nearly every tour bus picks up in Union... More

One thing I think the Chancellor Hotel is perfect for...a parent - child getaway. The historic nature of the hotel, charm, twin beds and the location make for a memorable experience that both will cherish for years to come. Especially when they see the hotel over the years and it hardly changes from the great place that made those memories.... More

Had hung around Union Square in a short visit in 1968; things have changed! This is a 100-year old classic hotel. Good decor, great service; very comfortable room and bed. Luque's in hotel a good spot for breakfast. Could not beat the location for nearby shopping, eating, and getting around SF.

Many things have changed in Union Square since 1968, but some things that haven't changed: The Chancellor Hotel is still the Chancellor Hotel The bellman at the Chancellor in 1968 is still the bellman Still a great value (but the rates are a little higher than 1968) Still family owned and operated Please don't wait another 46 years to come... This was my third stay at the Chancellor Hotel and was just as good as my first two stays here. The hotel is a short 3 block walk from the Powell St BART station so easy to reach from SFO airport. There is iced water in the lobby with different fruits each day, as well as cookies and tea and... More

They have taken great pains to tell you how small the rooms are and that they do not have AC and that it's very central. They were right. Yes they could upgrade the rooms a little but the location cannot be better and the $209 a night was a bargain for the center of SF. We stayed in the the... More

First the pros: we just returned from a 3 night stay. The location is great and the staff could not have been more helpful. We checked in around 10pm (Amtrak was 6 hours late in arriving) and right after reaching our room a service staff member knocked with the fan I had requested when making the reservation. There is no... More

We had a most enjoyable three night stay at this hotel in August as part of a 3 stop trip in California. We were both highly impressed from the moment we checked in, the staff were all very helpful and you got the impression that they were happy to help and not just doing their jobs and going through the...
