Nothing beats the views from this hotel. We have stayed here twice now, and again were placed on the 11th floor. They even "remembered" us from our last stay and I had requested a "high floor" room overlooking the park. It was a special occasion and they upgraded our room, which was huge. I could just lay in bed and... More

I stayed for 5 days in February, the rooms are really well done, spacious, very clean and fresh. Great location, and no need to use the gym because of THAT hill. The one let down is the pool in the spa. It looks like a swimming pool, feels like a swimming pool.....but no swimming! It's a 'relaxation' pool apparently.....ie float???... More

This is a fantastic boutique hotel, very friendly staff, excellent service and fantastic rooms. After spending time in large chain hotels this is a very pleasant change. Did not like that you had to pay for wifi in rooms but free wifi is available in the lobby and bar. Hotel has a spa but I did not get a chance... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Even though we booked our stay through a third-party website we were treated wonderfully by the front desk (Camisha was very friendly, professional and courteous) and were generously upgraded to a suite to celebrate our anniversary. Other hotel staff (including Jarvis) also did an outstanding job. We were consistently greeted with a... More

This hotel has a lot going for it. It is in a good location, has a nice spa and has spacious rooms. Unfortunately, we felt it was let down by a few small factors, that together left us feeling underwhelmed. Firstly was the service. We felt that the front desk staff were a little snooty towards us. I am not... More

It was an adult evening. Girlfriend and I went there to meet 2 men, peppy bar, sat and chatted away (not too loud), restaurant there as well, people eating and enjoying. Lovely piano bar, people having a great time. I even knew the bartender from years ago at Bayones Jazz Club in San Francisco. The guys even bought the drinks,... More

Dear Helene W., Thank you for sharing your experience at the Big 4 with us. We're delighted to hear that you and your girlfriend enjoyed yourselves, and it's always nice when someone else is buying the drinks! It sounds like Ty was bartending that night, he's an amazing individual and we're lucky to have him. We hope you will come... More

we stayed at the huntington hotel on a three day trip to San Francisco. There is no doubt that this is a quality up market place. It was our first visit to SF and we caught the supershuttle from SFO. They took us through the tenderloin area on the way in which gave us a bad impression of SF as... More

Dear Sheppy01, Thank you for taking the time to review us. I'm pleased to hear that overall you enjoyed your time with us whilst visiting San Francisco. Your notes will surely be helpful to other Trip Advisor users; Alcatraz is definitely a must-see, and the cafe down the street inside the Fairmont is lovely. In regards to the Wifi: I... More

Had my sibling not discovered this "memorable" hotel we would have perhaps missed the exclusivity and old world charm of Nob Hill on our recent visit to SF. I am reticent to find words to describe the adventure. Nothing escapes this singularly unique structure, accommodating management with its hospitable and gracious staff. We found the room interestingly spacious and the... More

Loved the boutique old school charm of this hotel. Fantastic staff and service. Central location on a hill made it walkable in any direction to different parts of San Francisco - union square shopping, north end restaurants, etc. (hill is steep so good exercise). Room was elegant with historic feel, but nice updated amenities. Parking was convenient although very pricey... More

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
