We spent 3 nights at the Mark and we stayed on points. The hotel was beautiful. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The housekeeper on our floor (we were on the 12th floor) was the friendliest lady! We were there celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary after a few days in the Napa Valley. The guest services folks sent up... More

Just the kind of hotel that these old hotels in a best case are. Not worn at least in a bad way. Bit pricy of course but for this kind of quality I can happily pay the price. Service was great, breakfast had everything. Location is great with nice views over the city (specially from the bar/breakfast room at the... More

Was booked at the Mark Hopkins recently for a conference, this would not have been my first choice, as I have been a loyal Fairmont customer for years. I am pleased to say that my stay was excellent and I will definitely consider the Hopkins again. The overall ambience of the hotel is one of quiet elegance, the only drawback... More

Great value, location and staff! Parking is a bit high ($69 per night), but there is a lot (Masonic) just up the street for $30. Be prepared for the uphill climb back! The cable car is right in front of the hotel. There is a gem of a restaurant around the corner, Nob Hill Cafe. Small, unimpressive, but the food... More

The rooms were comfortable. However I was very impressed by the service. The housekeeper on the 5th floor was the nicest, most pleasant lady. Id recommend this hotel merely based on trusting housekeeping, which is huge.

I didn't like the bedding; it was all nice, silky feathery but the many layers clumped under you! I also didn't like the fan being practically at ear level of the bed! It is an old luxury hotel with a superb view, at walking distance from chinatown and downtown. I don't think it is as glamorous as Fairmount, which is... More

The exterior/lobby/room decor was everything I would expect in the hotel of this class. They were very helpful with our bags - but not so helpful when we went to check in. Our room wasn't ready until after 4 (though they did store our bags for us) and they put us in a room literally directly across from the elevator.... More

This place is top notch all the way. The first night they gave us fruit, water and chocolate. The room was fabulous. A suite with dining room, parlor, and awesome king bed. Beautiful view from the 14th floor. We stayed for my dh birthday and we could not have asked for a better location, service or room. The only con... More

This hotel is in probably the best location in San Fran - Fishersman's Wharf is far too touristy and the hotel area around Union Square we felt was unsafe as there appeared to be an abundance of homeless and drunks. Nob Hill felt very safe and exclusive. The rooms were what you would expect for the price and from a... More

Loved this hotel, beautiful views, clean and great staff. Eat all you want because the walk back to the hotel will burn lots of calories - better than a step climber!!

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
