I stayed here over Memorial Day weekend with my husband and 2 year old son for a wedding. While the staff was very friendly, we definitely paid for everything. At first, they gave us a room, which the front desk receptionist said was an "upgrade." When we got to the room on the 8th floor, it was a corner room... More

I stayed at the Mark Hopkins after a few days of conferences in Napa. My office is in the East Bay but I try and stay in the city when I'm down there. Usually I stay in the Union Square area but they had a good pre-paid deal, so I took it. The hotel itself is a grand dame of... More

Stay away now. No restaurant. Top of the Mark has no kitchen so the food is the same quality as room service - mediocre at best. No help in the business center despite promises of sending someone "right away". This hotel used to house the "creme de la creme". No longer. Those desiring service have moved on as I will.

When we checked in we received prompt service and the staff was very friendly. We also received a complimentary upgrade which was a nice surprise. The room was beautiful but had a very musky odor; fortunately we were able to open the windows and air it out. The bed was very comfortable and the hotel was very quiet which meant... More

My wife and I are from Southern California and have always loved San Francisco. We travelled one way many years ago and travelled a different way this time...the Mark Hopkins on top of Nob HIll! The hotel is an epic San Francisco experience. We actually had never been to Nob Hill when we were young because we feared the expense... More

I stayed at the IC Mark Hopkins for two nights for a business trip. I have Ambassador status. All in all it was ok, but it was nothing spectacular. Service: The service was great, everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. Checkin and checkout went smoothly, all my interactions with the conceirage were great, and the club room was well worth... More

I stayed three nights at the Mark Hopkins for a conference in early May. I was pleased with the service and appearance of the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. The concierge was helpful. It is in a great location. It is walking distance from China town and North Beach. Go to the "Top of the Mark" for a... More

I stayed here for 4 nights on business and I was very much impressed. It was a grand hotel and lived upto Intencontinental name. Only downside was it being on hill, I was not comfortable driving up and sudden turn to enter in lobby. I always love intercontinental bath products and the comfort was great..

This hotel is an historical landmark in SFO and has a lovely air of old grandeur about it, with its impressive brass/glass entrance and marble/timber panelled foyer. It was apparently one of the original Intercontinental properties and has been for many years, with several staff members being long term employees at the hotel. We enjoyed our stay here at the... Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
