For being a Luxury Collection Hotel, the services, in-room amenities, furniture and cleanliness is kind of disappointing. -The carpet was stained and old (not dirty, just stained) -The furniture is out-dated and battered -The room doesn't even have a coffee service inside -The pool could use a little up-keep, etc... Luxury collection has always shown the attention to details and... More

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly and taken care of. Paul, the doorman, was very helpful and went out of his way to make suggestions for things to do and see. It turns out, we needed him more than we ever thought we would. I experienced a back spasm that first night and ended up sleeping on... More

My family and I stayed here for one night on a driving trip down the California coast. The hotels is a grand dame in the city where you have many hotel choices. The lobby has the wow factor as soon as enter. Check in process was quick and the room we got was quite spacious for an older hotel. Very... More

Stayed here for work and thought the staff was friendly and flexible. I checked in early; front desk agreed to change my room (first one smelled like a hospital). Rooms have high ceilings and a big window. Nothing hugely special but nice. Great gym (and a good-sized pool). You can walk to so much from this location. I enjoyed staying... More

I stayed at the Palace Hotel for 2 nights, while in town for business. It is located in the Financial District and close to just about everything. We took a morning walk to Union Square, Chinatown & North Beach (for breakfast) We walked to dinner also. The BART station is right outside the hotel, we jumped on & headed to... More

Having stayed in many good to great hotels in San Francisco over the years, we were surprised to find that one of the best ones in town is not overpriced like its peers. We had both a deluxe room, and then a large suite at the Palace at prices well below what we have come to expect in SF. Both... More

I recently stayed at the Palace Hotel for 5 nights while in town on business and it exceeded my expectations on service, which compensated for any reservations someone would have on parts of the hotel feeling slightly "tired". The hotel is a must stay for anyone who appreciates old world charm. My room was very clean and tidy, despite that... More

Public spaces at this hotel are gorgeous. Rooms definitely have the old period charm, but could use an update. The hotel itself is conveniently located right between Union Square and the Embarcadero/Market. close to great shopping and restaurants. Altogether The Palace was a pleasant experience.

This is an excellent hotel full of period charm and beds to die for. The bedding was excellent which is what you want after a long flight. Check in even on a Saturday was very efficient. I would recommend the Garden Court for a breakfast and if you know you are going to be there on a Sunday then pre... More
