I was at the Palace Hotel in January. The hotel is very nice, but a little old and could use some updates. I heard that there is a ton of history in this hotel. They should give you something or put it in the room so you are aware of it. The room was pretty standard. The bathroom could use... More

I have stayed at this hotel twice previously. It is a beautifully cared for historic property. Check in is quick and easy. Rooms are modern but retain their original character feel. The longer service is fabulous and has a fun vibe. Centrally located downtown and is a short walk to the Moscone Center. Fantastic lobby as well. Accomadating staff are... More

Not my cup of tea Although the lobby is beautiful and much like a palace, the rooms are outdated and the gym is tiny even though they have a big indoor pool. The location is great and close to many tourist spots. I stayed here during a work visit. Keep in mind that I like more modern hotels. I can... More

The great room is perfect! we enjoyed afternoon tea with a lovely lady playing the harp. We enjoyed Sunday Breakfast buffet formal service. The sun shining through the glass roof. The suite was large, warm, comfortable. The bedding was like sleeping in a cloud. I could have stayed a month and felt great!

The hotel is very central and a good location for getting around, it was my husbands birthday and they put a cake in his room which was a lovely touch, the room was very large and well appointed but the bathroom cleanliness let it down, I also had some papers thrown away obviously by staff off my bedside table, I... This is a lovely old hotel full of charm and period features. it is not run of the mill bland like modern hotels. From the minute you arrive, the foyer and breakfast room is a Wow! there was a beautiiful HUGE flower arrangement that was really unusual in the main reception. If you want a modern square boring, bland hotel,... More

Stayed during a January 2015 weekend/early week in which San Francisco was packed with conventions and trade shows. Great central location, with plenty of cabs and Town Car services right out the front door (even in Uber-choked SF). Walking distance to Moscone Center. The Palace has wonderful features like brass rails, dark wood paneling, soaring coffered ceilings and a barrel... More

The Palace is a beautiful old hotel that in many ways is past its prime. The rooms are quite small and a lot of the facilities are quite old, such as the elevators. The building is quite elegant and some of the rooms like the glass roofed dining room are quite amazing. Overall, its hard to get past the old,... More

I was the lucky one to visit my favorite city, San Francisco, in December for a conference. The Palace Hotel hosted the conference so staying there was a logical choice. Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
