The Palace Hotel is one of the most beautiful hotels in San Francisco. The rooms were recently renovated and they are elegant and very comfortable. The Garden Court Room is not to be missed and the continental breakfast, while pricey, is very good. We live in the East Bay but occasionally like to stay in the City. Always will choose... More

I stayed here recently to attend a business conference. The hotel is fantastic. The hotel lobby is gorgeous, check-in was efficient and professional, room was nicely furnished and recently remodelled, hotel staff is exceptional. I recommend this property and will stay here again.

I recently stayed here over Superbowl weekend. My room was purchased on a group deal but because I am an SPG member I was able to check in at 7am. Hotel is beautiful and loved the room but it was on the small size with a view of a brick wall?? Room service menu was limited. Debbie, at the concierge,... More

We had a room with a view, very comfortable bed, clean, warm…perfect. They have these amazing toilets (I know this sounds weird) but now I want one for my home. The breakfast was included and OMG! Wow, it was a feast every morning. I originally wanted to stay at the Fairmont but the rate was better at the Palace and... More

Stayed here for a work trip right before Christmas, and just loved it. This hotel exuded class from every corner. Gorgeous twinkly lights, Christmas trees, live piano player in the lobby/sitting area...just beautiful. The rooms were a bit smaller than normal Starwood rooms, but it was to be expected with an old holel like this one. The rooms were very... More

Not only was the Palace hotel pristine and clean, but the service was outstanding, from the concierge to the restaurant staff to the housekeeping, but most importantly the front desk reception staff was outstanding, one in particular, who serves as the front office supervisor. He was OUTSTANDING and a pleasure to work with.

Good location in downtown SF. Main floor had a beautiful and historic grand tea room, and the Pied Piper Bar. The room was clean and nice, but nothing special. Rooms were recently redone, and didn't maintain the historic details you can see in the main parts of the hotel. Windows opened to an office building that could see directly to... More

Okay, I know rack rate at this hotel was over $650 for their smallest room during Super Bowl weekend, but for that amount of money I expect a few things like decent pillows, a room where everything works would be good as well. Our message light flashed perpetually for 4 days, could not get it off. It's a historic hotel... More

I stayed at the Palace two years ago and was disappointed, as the hotel seemed dated. Wow! The hotel took its need to renovate seriously! The hotel is gorgeous - the decor is sophisticated and elegant. Two current concerns: there appear to be no drawers in any of the rooms (makes it hard to unpack thoroughly), and request a room... Arriving in the afternoon, 40 minutes after check-in time, our first introduction to the hotel was to be informed that our room was not ready. We were told it would likely be another 1.5 hours until we could check in - 5pm. As we had a dinner and ballet booked, and had just flown in from Australia, we requested a... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
