Like other reviews, I can say I agree with the dorm-like feel - but putting it another way, it's similar to places I've stayed in London and Amsterdam. Space is well-used, the furniture is simple but attractive, and there isn't any scary landscape art. Check-in took more time than a SupermegaHilton, but a SmH would have cost me three times... More

I wish there were an option to rate this hotel "good" rather than very good but it met my needs for a basic hotel in a convenient location. This hotel "lobby" was very small with a tiny sitting area. Ice is only available when adjoining restaurant is open which is annoying. Staff were all friendly and helpful and are available... More

San Francisco is unreasonably expensive. We chose this hotel after a long research and we did not totally satisfied but we had to be content with it...It is very difficult findind a good hotel. They are all very old. Touchstone as well. Take a look at the bathroom or at the walls....Anyway I suggest it if you stay a few... More

This hotel is really convenient - 3 minute walk from Union Square. The hotel could do with a bit of modernization (hallways, etc) but the rooms are clean and airy and have everything you could need. The staff were extremely accommodating and helpful. The lady on the front desk helped to organize a trip to Napa Valley which we thoroughly enjoyed.... More

We had a great stay at the Touchstone Hotel. The rooms are on the small side, do get warm and can be noisy at night, but on the plus side, the beds are comfortable, the room was clean and they do give you earplugs if you have trouble with the traffic noise (we never did). Location is pretty good -... More

Not fancy, but is definitely one of the best for your money. Excellent location near Union square, very friendly stuff, clean room. No Breakfast, but they do give you a 20% discount at the next door nice diner. This is my second time here, and I'm sure I will stay here again next time as well.

Very basic room, with the bare minimum amenities. Good price for SF and free Wifi in the room. A voucher for a 20% discount at the café next door was offered (unlimited use) which was a decent breakfast spot. Good location. No ventilation in the room, so might get hot in the summer. Definetly ask for a room facing the... More

This is your VERY basic room; bed, bathroom, desk, phone, small t.v. not much else. Room was clean, although seemed very old and dingy. The room itself was clean and tidy and the beds were comfortable and met our needs. Free wifi, friendly staff and excellent location, great price. We weren't there to spend time in our rooms, so it... More

Not refined or glamorous by any means. Not sickening or foul. But yet not overly-attractive. very surface level with the decorations. The room I had was extreemely small. The building is quiter ancient, and hotel rooms were much more petite, than todays rooms. The bathroom, very small as well. However, that is what I paid for; everything was clean/in good... More

Situation : you are situated 2 minutes away from Union Square, the main cable car line or from Market Street, ideal for shopping. It is very easy to get to china town (one bus), to the fisherman wharf (through the cable car) or to the Ferry building (with the street car). Lots of good restaurants around. But, if you have...
