SF is a gorgeous city but it is expensive! I brought my son to visit, and we decided to stay for a while in the North Beach (Little Italy area), and then move over to Union Square. I was looking forward to this room- I asked for a room 'not too noisy' and able to get to by stairs- we... More

This place is great! The staff is friendly and they have a fully stocked pantry which was an unexpected nice touch. The rooms were clean and they respect your privacy. My only complaint would be that our room didn't have an air conditioner so we had to leave the windows open and SanFran can be pretty noisy at night!

I stayed here on business & had no issues. The service is really good and the staff very helpful. They have a stocked pantry whcih is great! The wifi was reliable & the room was clean / neat. Free breakfast which I enjoyed. They also have a happy hour, which I dint get to, which was a bummer. Side note:... More

I stayed for three nights. It is very quaint and old fashioned. Great bed to sleep in, super comfy, however I unfortunately had a room next the elevator which is extremely old and noisy. I wasn't able to switch rooms for the three nights. The floors are very creaky and pipes loud, so I could hear my neighbours and people... More

I found this hotel on TripAdvisor, which has never steered me wrong, and this hotel was no exception. Positives - staff is excellent, very friendly and accommodating. Rooms are good sized and well appointed. Used the fireplace a lot during the middle of summer. Water pressure is AMAZINGLY strong and hot water is instant. They have a very old, very... More

The personal touches, the helpful and personable staff, and the tasty breakfasts and afternoon receptions make a very pleasant stay. We're sad to see the charming French style in transition to a more generic modern one. Loved the comfortable bed, the cozy fireplace, and the convenient bathrobe.

The hotel staff is very friendly. They helped us to get an overview of the city, where to go and what to see. The room was located to the backyard, so it was quiet. We had a firplace, that was very nice. The breakfast was good. There were different fruits, omletts, muffins and so on. In the afternoon they served... More

My husband, teenage grandson and I stayed here for 2 nights. Service, rooms, breakfast and wine reception were truly great. It is noisy particularly on Saturday night, but I assume anywhere is except for high risers. I wish they had AC but they did provide us with a fan which helped.

The beds were fantastic (we stayed in 2 different rooms). The 5pm get together for wine and nibbles was very friendly. The hotel is situated 2 or 3 blocks walk to union square - restaurants - trams etc.
