This charming hotel is just a few uphill blocks from Union Square. Our room was dated, screaming for new carpet, drafty, and the furniture would be a hard sell at a flea market. BUT...we loved the fireplace in our room. The staff is awesome. Breakfast was amazing, the wine and cheese reception was lovely, my daughter loved the 24-hour complimentary... More

Really enjoyed our stay two years ago so decided to stay for our anniversary. Was not happy overall with the room accommodations. Kitchen staff was great and happy hour enjoyable but wouldn't stay again.

Accommodations and staff were very good. Comfortable and helpful. Wine, snacks, water and soft drinks were nice touches. Made us feel most comfortable. Good location. Breakfast were fulsome and most welcome.

We will probably not live long enough to visit all the B&B hotels in San Francisco but the Petite Auberge is one of the best so far. Convenient to shopping and restaurants, this wonderful building was built in 1911 so do not book with Hilton-style expectations. The reviews mentioning tiny elevator, small rooms, creaky floors, narrow staircase - are true BUT... A charming and quaint refuge in the city. Friendliest staff ever. Would stay again. If you want sleek, flair or contemporary, this is not the place for you. Stay here if you want to feel like you are at a home.

Stayed years ago at White Swan Inn when it was owned by 4 sisters and it was lovely. New owners need to improve Petite Auberge which needs cleaning up in room 51; dining room dingy and food unappetizing; didn't eat anything. dining room needs cleaning after guests eat so it's clean for next guests. Will never stay again. Too expensive... More

If you're looking for a place in the middle of San Francisco to rest your head, be out most of the day, and get a good price, then the Petite Auberge is good for you. Well maintained, very clean, terrific breakfasts, but tiny rooms with an even tinier shower. My room would have been almost impossible for two people. The... More

We stumbled across this hotel by total accident (hotwire booking) and it turned out to be incredibly lucky that we did. Fantastic little place with so much personality and amazing staff, especially Jason! They really go above and beyond to make sure you're enjoying yourself. We missed the little wine and apps social they have daily (what a wonderful idea)... More

The Petite Auberge and sister establishment (the White Swan Inn) are, together my favorite places to stay in SF. Comfortable rooms. Fireplaces. Very helpful and friendly staff (unlike the other place I sometimes stay). Fireplaces. Great breakfast with fresh made stuff. Fireplaces. Nice wine/cheese (etc.) reception. My only problem with these neighboring places? I'm tempted just to stay in the... More
