I stayed in two rooms (one was bayview the other was an interior room). - Both rooms had very comfy beds, slept really well. - I liked the layout of the rooms as they were small, TV was mounted on the wall, over the mirror/sink. - Staff was friendly and helpful. Service very good - There's a nice restaurant/ bar... More

We stay in the City a couple times a year and we decided on the Hotel Griffon for our stay this time. Three reasons: 1) Perry's Bar and Restaurant which we really enjoy 2) Walking distance to AT&T Park (took in the Giants game on Mother's Day) 3) Across from the Embarcadero where we get out and walk to Fisherman's... The location is great, the staff is friendly, the rooms are clean. The biggest criticism is that everything about the hotel is small. The rooms are EXTREMELY small. (The sink is conveniently located at the foot of the bed so you can wash your hands from bed.) Only a handful of the rooms have a view. The rooms are NOT... More

Dear NinaJay08, Thank you for sharing your comments regarding you recent experience at the Hotel Griffon. We are pleased you enjoyed our friendly staff and prime location. However, we are sorry you felt our rooms were too small and that you did not have a comfortable nights sleep. Our historic hotel dates back to 1906 which can add to its... More

This hotel was a pleasant surprise! There are really only positive things for me to say about it. The location is prime; a quick walk from the Embarcadero BART station, next door to the Ferry Building, and about a mile walk to AT&T park. The staff members were great - the front desk even gave my girlfriend and I water... More

Worst hotel that we have ever stayed at. It's not a hotel, it's more of a closet. No room service after 10 and the front desk gal was the valet. It was just weird checking in and my boyfriend is reprimanding me about the bad hotel choice. No bell boy either. Good thing I have a stand in...check the picture...

Very nice charming hotel located within 10 minute walk to AT&T Park, great spot for spending night after game. Very close to Ferry Building also, which has a wonderful Farmers market on weekends. Rooms are cozy but nicely appointed, and Perry's is attached to hotel with great food and drinks. Also many other nice restaurants are well within walking distance.... More

I spent two nights here last week. It's a snug, but clean and well kept boutique hotel. The front desk staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The room had everything I needed. However, try to avoid the second floor of the hotel over the restaurant. I could hear dishes clanking well past midnight both nights. While the hotel was great... More

My son and I came into Emeryville on the Amtrak. A quick bus ride across the bay dropped us off just blocks from the Hotel Griffon. The location is perfect for things to do close by, access to all sorts of transit to get anywhere you want to go, and plenty close to great destinations if you are the walking... More

We selected this hotel based on location and reviews. All in all, we were disappointed with our stay. The lobby was very small, dark and rather unwelcoming. The staff member who checked us in must have been having a bad day as she was unfriendly and curt – not a good way to start our stay. The elevator located behind... More

This is my 4th visit to the Griffon and it never fails to deliver on service and quality Definitely on recommendation list! The staff are supremely helpful and the room quality is second to none. The quirkiness of the elevator only adds to the ambience of the hotel!

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
