This hotel was super cute and awesome. It's very small though. Tiny elevator with only 5 floors. I stayed on the 4th floor with a view of Pier 14. I loved it here. It was different from my normal hotel stay at a Marriott or Ritz. And to be honest, I prefer this hotel over those, now that I've experienced... More

My husband and I had the most amazing experience at Hotel Griffon that I had to write this review right away. We checked out less than 24 hrs ago. I was initially skeptical staying at a small boutique hotel but right away the friendly staff proved me wrong. When we got there Olivia and John greeted us with warm smiles... More

As returning hotel guests, we were treated as superbly as any hotel can treat guests. The manager and staff bent over backwards to give us a lovely room and treat us as returning "family". We were always greeting by staff upon returning. Beds, lighting, storage space, all good. For location, this hotel is tops. Near ferry building and Embarcadero, in... More

My wife and I travel to SF a few times a year for some time away from the kids and we always stay at the Griffon. We tried a couple of other places where they were having a special rate but I can tell you...the Griffon is the best. From now on, we will only stay there. The staff is... More

I checked-in at night and was really wowed by the view of Bay Bridge! The low point is that my room was small, but this is SF. The staff was nice and friendly. I notice this hotel is big on green initiative. I suggest they check out Foli app, which provide digital magazines, ebooks, and eGuest Directory. It saves paper!... More

We live on the Peninsula and decided to spend our anniversary in the City. What a fabulous evening we had staying at the Hotel Griffon. It is perfectly located on the Embarcadero with the best view ever of the Bay Bridge and the fabulous light show. From the moment I arrived at this boutique hotel, the relaxed and personal attention distinguished it. Whether with a joke, a story or a wave, the front desk staff (esp. Michsel) creates a friendly atmosphere. The room is comfortable and details like the bar of soap (with a hole to minimize waste) are just fun.

I was here for two nights in February (business). What a wonderful property! Great service at the front desk, a very nice room (impeccable wireless) ... a great stay at a great hotel. If you're looking for a nice property right in the heart of San Francisco, you'd be hard pressed i think to find something nicer!

Overall it was a good experience. I stayed for a week on business and it was more than adequate for my needs, with a good desk, free WiFi and a bunch of chargers built in. I'd recommend for business use but would have been a little disappointed if i had visited as a tourist. My room was actually a good... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
