I recently stayed here and let me start off by saying, what an Awesome Name ! As soon As I arrived I was greeted and felt welcomed. When I stepped in the room I thought it would be just a basic looking room. To my surprise it looked awesome. I have an artistic eye and I saw everything coordinated very... More

There are nicer hotels in SF but you are going to pay 2 to 3 times as much to stay there (especially in peak season). This is a no frills hotel but it is comfortable, quiet, safe, clean and the restaurant attached is excellent. Hayes Valley is an up and coming neighborhood in San Francisco and we enjoyed exploring it.... More

Never heard any of the other guests. We stayed in the Haight Ashbury room. Named that, I would have expected some color, but there wasn't any. The bathroom was very small. The king bed was very comfortable, with those long body pillows. The fragrances of the linens and soap products were pleasant. No view. No air, but was comfortable with... More

Is a hotel being cool a legitimate factor for rating? Maybe this is a topic for erudite debate, but I’m proceeding on the affirmative answer. What makes Sleep Over Sauce so chic other than its name? My answer is its attitude, its disdain for the conventional, its “Hayes Valley” neighborhood, and its 12 foot ceilings. A Sauce Restaurant bartender took... More

I spent two nights in the Haight room on the top floor. The room has a small rooftop patio, with a toilet and shower in the room. (Not all rooms have these!) I walked from the Civic Center BART line with two roller bags, so easy to get to. Stairs only at Sleep Over Sauce, so be prepared if you've... More

We loved the Sauce, the room was very atmospheric with lovely furnishings and great toiletries. The location was good, just a short walk to the Mission or there were plenty of great bars and restaurants in the immediate area. The staff were very friendly and helpful, they made some great recommendations for the area and made us feel like locals... More

It's a bargain in the midst of a very expensive city...A little different but we liked it and we will stay again when visiting San Francisco. There are just a few rooms in this hotel and you check in at the bar of the restaurant (aka: Sauce) where you get your keys and a code to get into the sleeping... More

My family stayed for two nights in June, and we had a great time. I found Sleep Over Sauce to be a lot like a European B&B, with its casual atmosphere and quirky charm. The room was somewhat small, but plenty comfortable for the three of us. The beds were very comfortable, and the bathroom was nice. There is storage... More

The place was alright. The bed was plenty comfy, the staff was nice for the very short interaction I had with them. For the price, I thought more would be offered in terms of breakfast and location, but coffee, cereal, and bagels/ English muffins were enough to get the day started. They warn you not to park on the street... More

I really liked this urban guest house in San Francisco. It has eight guest rooms above an excellent restaurant called Sauce on Gough Street. The double room I stayed in was very comfortable and well equipped with a balcony which was handy as my boyfriend smokes. The reception was unmanned, but this was not an issue. Breakfast and drinks were... More

Staying in Hayes Valley

Neighborhood Profile
Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway. Its removal allowed for the creation of an attractive boulevard on Octavia Street with a community park at its center and dozens of trendy businesses to satisfy visitors looking for a stylish respite.
