My husband & I traveled to San Francisco last June 2015 for our youngest son's PhD Graduation Ceremony @ Stanford University. I have MS & as a result I have a very difficult time traveling. The Union St Inn was exactly what We needed while staying in San Francisco. The staff made us feel so welcomed that we felt like... More

I found this place very last minute, during the hectic JP Morgan Healthcare conference period, when hotels go for $1000-2000/night. For the price, location, service, quality of food, friendliness of staff, and comfort of bed and room, this place is dynamite. I stayed in the New Yorker room for 3 nights. The inn is charming, with a verdant back patio... More

I stayed again in the Carriage House tucked neatly behind the Inn. I had stayed here years ago and remembered how lovely my stay had been. Wow, its still a hidden gem. So peaceful and relaxing. I needed to get away and unwind - the Union Street Inn is just so lovely. Kitty the inn keeper is a doll! She... More

My impression of the property is that it is worn out, dark and dreary. The bathroom in our unit was painted a most uncomfortable and bright red. The fixtures were Home Depo 1980. Our room was $300. a night. For an extra $200. per night we could have stayed in the Fairmont! Bad value. On the bright side, the breakfast... More

Stayed here for a few days in October. What a wonderful place. It's in a great neighborhood, close to restaurants, shops and a bus stop that takes you downtown. The manager Kit is a charming person, really dedicated and helpful. The room was very pretty and comfortable, there was plenty of fruit, coffee and tea to make, even chocolates. The... More

A well rated B&B in the Cow Hollow & Marina district of San Francisco. Returning clients usually a good indication. There are lots of stairs, common areas are tiny, parking is awful, and the building is tired. No on-site staff at night. Rooms a decent size, but avoid rooms facing the street due to noise. Breakfast was average for a... More

The inn was nice, but be aware the outside steps are very steep and suitcases need to be brought up by you. We stayed in the Wild Rose room which was spacious. However, the shower/ tub was very high (18 inches) to get in and out of. This room was also at the top of stairs, which required you to... More

We stayed in the Carriage House for four nights recently and loved every minute. The Carriage House is warm and cozy, very romantic, and in a perfect location for seeing all of San Francisco. The breakfasts each morning were delicious and filling...a great start for a fun day in the city. The inn keepers and the staff were all very... More

Great location near lots of shopping and drinking and food! Really nice B&B, beautiful gardens, very nice innkeepers. Nice touches: fresh fruit, chocolate and water in the room, delicious breakfast, nice wine and cheese reception, and fabulous cake. Room was spacious, bed really 'bouncy' - big bathroom. Only 'negative' is that there is quite a lot of street noise, so... More

We've been staying at the Union Street Inn over the past 25 years and have never been disappointed. Each room has its own special qualities ... everything is spotlessly clean and the breakfast is always totally amazing. The staff (Kit, Chuck and David) are extremely knowledgeable about things to do, places to eat, where to shop and always so helpful.... More

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
