I had a great stay at the Union Street Inn. The location was perfect--within walking distance to great restaurants and shopping on Union Street and Chestnut Street. My room was clean and quiet and the staff were lovely. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a fusty b & b. The staff was very nice. Breakfast was awkward in the lobby on tray tables. It was too cold to sit in the garden. It's an expensive city, but didn't feel it was worth the money. We have stayed in many, many b & b's and this just wasn't special.

We stayed for 3 nights in the Holly Room and it felt like stepping back in time with beautiful Victorian style décor and ornaments. The location is excellent with many local restaurants and shops close by. The inn-keepers were very helpful and we also enjoyed the cheese & wine. We bought a combined 3 day bus and cable-car pass with... More

I enjoyed a three night stay at this beautiful B&B in a cute neighborhood of restaurants, shops and historic buildings. The Golden Gate room was very comfortable and invitingly decorated in period (early 1900s?) style. The Inn has a flowering garden with kumquat and lemon trees where you can relax peacefully with the Inn's freshly baked cookies, coffee or tea... More

Union street inn was wonderful. The music that played was just wonderful and the ambiance was great! I especially loved the cake and biscuits that were homemade and changed each day. The breakfasts were delicious and kit was especially lovely all the time. The room was great and I Could not fault it. The location was in a fantastic area... More

We are experienced travelers and this was our THIRD VISIT to the Union Street Inn. Now under new ownership, we were delighted to see nothing has changed!! This time, we visited on business. Just an easy cab ride away from the East Bay, it was the perfect spot for my adult sons and I to share family time between meetings.... More

I've stayed at the Union Street Inn twice now and both times it exceeded my expectations. The room (Wild Rose Room) was delightful - comfortable bed, quiet room, bathroom with heaps of character. I arrived in time for a delightful wine/ cheese hour from 5pm. Over some delicious hors d'oeuvres served in the delightful garden area, the host shared many... More

Found this B&B online and wasn't sure of the location, but struck gold. Within walking distance of most attractions (good hike to the Golden Gate Bridge), but doable. The room I chose was the English Garden room and it is wonderful. The room is on the back side of the house and very quiet; hard to believe you are still... More

The Union Street Inn is the best hotel in the Marina! Comfortable, charming and close to everything. Won't stay anywhere else! The breakfast was delicious. Wine and cheese every afternoon and great cookies! The beautiful outdoor space is an extra bonus!

Usually hotel people we opted for this lovely B&B as hotel rates the weekend of our visit were unusually high. This place is charming, comfortable and well located - and like having your own apartment in great area of city walking distance to the Marina. Great home cooked breakfast daily is included. We stayed in the Holly Room on second... More

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
