I was recently in San Francisco with a friend and we searched for a modest place to stay on the business/play trip to the City. We found the Willows on line and booked two rooms (none have private baths but there are plenty and super well cared for. Showers and toilet rooms are separate and rooms have skinks). It was... We spent 10 happy days at this warm & welcoming b&b in the heart of San Francisco. The Willows is centrally located a few blocks outside the Castro and steps from the Muni and buses to Golden Gate Park, Embarcadero, Fisherman' Wharf, Cliff House and all parts of S.F. The Inn is on 2 floors, has a large comfortable sitting... More

I need three things that make my traveling comfortable, a nice clean soft bed, a hot streaming shower and service that makes me want to stay for another dozen nights. The Willows ticked all the boxes. All of the staff are friendly and helpful and made coming home from a day of sightseeing a pleasure. The Willows has a convenient... More

My partner and I planned this trip to SF to celebrate our 8th anniversary. The Willows Inn team was very friendly, helpful and efficient. Especially Giorgio and Mike. Knowing that this is a B&B, and not a hotel, we felt like as guests in a friend's home.

This was a really good accommodation choice in San Francisco. The rooms are large enough with comfy beds, the staff are really helpful, and the included breakfast is superb. I liked the fact that they had a complimentary cocktail hour between 6-7. The location is about ten minutes walk to the Castro. I would definitely recommend this place for a... More

The room was perfect -- clean and well maintained. Fresh towels and bathrobes and little soap bottles refreshed daily. The continental breakfast was far better than the usual stale bagels and toast -- fresh baked goods and an assortment of better than average granola and cereals. Splendid on all counts -- I'll be back!!

The Willows has many things to recommend it. It's conveniently located near the Castro and Mission districts and right near a bus and subway. Mike, the innkeeper, was friendly and helpful with maps and restaurants. The Inn was nicely decorated and very clean. Sharing the bathrooms was never a problem and the terry cloth robes provided were a nice touch.... More

Staying in The Castro

Neighborhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighborhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighborhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theaters and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
