This is a lovely hotel, right in the centre of San Francisco , but looking like a stately hotel transported from the other Kensington across the water. It's not for those who want the latest in funky hotels, but how could you miss the fun of listening to the wonderful Arla playing grand piano while sherry and tea is served... More

I loved the room décor and the fact that the room had a ceiling fan we didn't need to use the air conditioner or leave the window open. My room was clean and the beds are very comfortable. I felt like I was at home. The staff was wonderful and accommodating. The location of this hotel is perfect to see... More

We chose this hotel after many years of walking by and saying, "next time we should stay here." We stayed on a Saturday night, during a very busy weekend with a huge convention in town. The room rate was quite high, but other hotels were pricey also. We knew the room was going to be small; my husband was born... More

We scored this hotel at very reasonable price considering the location and over the top hotel rates that can be encounted in San Francisco. This is about as close as you get to Union Square without actually being on it.Deluxe room was good size considering the age of building although ensuite was rather cramped. Nice staff & ambience and room... More

As travel agents we are always keen to find a good deal but we're also very fussy when it comes to deciding where to stay. After a lot of research we booked in here and are thrilled with our choice. The location of the hotel is fantastic, just steps away from Union Square. For a 3 and a half star... More

This is a personality hotel!!! Great location, friendly staff and complimentary sherry, it doesn't get any better. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable, we had the best sleeps. The Farallon restaurant is next door and the hop on hop off bus stops right in front of the hotel. The cable car also stops within a half... More

I booked rooms for my family for a wedding that was later cancelled. I booked at 3 different hotels. all reservations had more than one room under one reservation number. The other hotels cancelled the entire reservation. This hotel cancelled one one and charged me for two. All cancellation notices read the same. This hotel absolutely refuses to honor the... More

This hotel has a supreme location - right in the heart of the city so if it's location you're after - this is prime position. We stayed with our two kids (aged 3 & 5) in a room with two double beds. It was way too small for us & it's not at all a recommendation if you want any... More

The hotel is very good and central, the stuff friendly. No restaurant in the hotel, but many places to have a meal nearby. Price is ok for San Francisco. Special thanks to Velichka at the front desk for friendliness and helpful tips. I would recommend the hotel for both business and private trips
