We love the location of the hotel, the rooms have wifi, spacious, comfy beds, friendly staff with the exception of the lady behind the counter not sure if it was her first shift or not. The free sherry was great . The place just needs some love- bar fridges, bathrooms need work.

I came to San Francisco for AAEA conference. The accommodation was really nice. Front Desk people were really nice. Especially, Velichka in the Front Desk was very kind, helpful and resolved all the minor issues we had. Really impressed with her patience and ability to resolve issues. Kudos to her!

Cute little hotel right in Union Square area. Booked through hotel tonight, first time using this app and was very satisfied. Great price and great location and also a decent hotel, Room is small, reminded me of some of the hotels we stayed at in Italy but it was clean and bed was comfy. I would definitely stay here again.... More

Lady at front desk was so unprofessional when we arrived for check in. She was on the phone with someone else whilst simultaneously processing our paperwork. She gestured where I need to sign and then kept yapping away on the phone. Room was very small and stuffy. I could not believe there was no air con inside. The excuse that... More

This hotel is great! We had room 85 on the 11th floor. It was a corner room and although there was no air conditioning during what seemed to be an unseasonably warm August, the ceiling fan and breeze coming through the two windows kept the room a perfect temperature. We did not see anything that previous reviewers said was "shabby."... More

Be aware - the hotel has no air conditioning -- something they bury deep in their website and something you'd probably never think to ask. It was in the mid-70's when I was there and the temperature in my room was fine. They do have very large and very effective ceiling fans and the windows do open about a foot... More

Dear Guest, Thank you for posting a review about our hotel on trip advisor. We really appreciate your feedback. I am sorry if our hotel did not meet your expectations. Please note it is fairly uncommon for a hotel in San Francisco to have air conditioning as the weather here is usually on the cooler side. Nevertheless we hope this... More

Really terrific service just doesn't make up for basic amenities. Poor lighting, no air conditioning and a bathroom with mold. Sorry to the staff because they were great, just poorly maintained rooms.

Lovely historical building - loved the ceilings in the lobby. Room was average hotel size, antique furniture, showing signs of a hard life, would have been lovely in it's day. Could do with a bit of TLC, but it did have personality. Clean and functional. Nice staff and great location. Pianist in the lobby was a nice touch.

From the minute we arrived, I knew we had chosen the best hotel. Robert and Ty, were amazing concierges. Robert on the day shift and Ty on the evening shift. After we purchased a hop on hop off bus pass from Robert, he walked us down the street to show us exactly where we would be boarding the bus, he... More

In 2015 - a hotel should be specific if they do not have A/C. The room was hot! We had to keep the fan on high and the window open to cool off. And the street was very noisy! Beware of rooms with 2 double beds...there is NO room to walk. Bathrooms are completely outdated - towel bar was falling... More
