This hotel was in a perfect location for exploring San Francisco, right in the heart of North Beach there were lots of restaurants and bars on your doorstep! The staff were all very helpful and welcoming. Would recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to stay in San Fran and experience a boutique hotel with lots of charm!

Stayed here for 3 nights in June for an anniversary getaway and were thrilled we booked this hotel. Very charming - we normally stay in well known, large chain properties but decided to do something more unique. Wonderful charm, clean peoperty with comfortable beds and all you needed in a bathroom (though not very spacy). Our room was quiet as... More

You come here for the history, beat history. The location is fantastic, you literally fall over brilliant Italian cafes and restaurants when you step out the door. Service is very good. Rooms are small and cramped. No breakfast. I can se the attraction for some but it was just an expensive place to rest up from a long trip for... More

You can book this hotel with confidence. It's charming and well cared for. My room with a nice view of Columbus Ave. was small but comfortable for one. People who don't want street noise should make that clear when reserving. The stairs are formidable so not good for anyone with physical limitations. Staff is kind and attentive.

An experience. First - the good. A quirky little place that reminded me of a different time. Room was exceptionally clean, bed comfortable and location good. Room furnished from the 50's and was kind of cool. The not so good - room was small and it probably could be really hot- (no A/C), but it was fine in May, the... More

stayed for one night. First room was noisy and was promptly replaced. Lugging the suitcase over the stairs was annoying.room was nicely decorated. Furniture are vintage but inconvenient for hanging ironed clothes.the location was very good. Overall good value for money.

Stayed at charming Hotel Boheme for two nights on holiday over Memorial Day weekend. This is not the place if you are looking for spa treatments, proximity to large department stores or ultra-modern chicness with $19 designer cocktails and techno music in the hotel bar. This is definitely the place if you are looking to experience what makes San Francisco... More

If you're used to staying at Hilton and Marriott properties, this little hotel may not be to your liking. The rooms are small and there's no elevator, just a wonderful, steep, creaky old staircase. The hotel is impossibly charming and ideally located in the heart of North Beach, an easy walk to Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, and several Muni lines. Reminiscent... More

This is a sweet hotel in a great location- but we were travelling with heavy bags and there is no lft and the staircase is steep - if you have anything other than a hold all I would not stay here - but if you are a weekend only visit and have a little lipstick to carry around - this... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
