We did not like the hotel. It was not cheap (normal in San Francisco) and definetely not clean (hair found in the bathroom & bed linnen with stains). The room was also outdated and there was no elevator (all bags needed to be carried up by ourselves). The reception office in the basement does not have good opening hours. The... More

I stayed at this hotel in September 2012 for five nights at the end of my six week honeymoon in North and South America. I know you get what you pay for however, this hotel was a complete dissapointment and a sour end to an amazing holiday. It's on the border of the tenderloin district which is known as the... More

This little hotel was excellent. We had booked a family room with two beds, small kitchen, tv, storage and bathroom. The staff are very friendly, efficient and helpful. The Halcyon is very near to Union Square which was great. Our room was very quiet despite being in the busy downtown area.

Looked forward to a stay here, but rooms are small and stuffy. Hot with no fan to cool down. Wardrobe cupboard smelt bad, so did not use. Area south is a bit seedy, but we had no problems. Good points, staff helpful, near union square, restaurants and transport. Launderette on site in the evening.

Just recently came back from San Francisco. In the city I stayed at the Halcyon hotel. It is absolutely amazing hotel. I liked it very much. It is very close to the city center, clean and the management staff are always welcome and helpful. I strongly recommend this hotel to anybody, you will not regret it.

For me it served my purposes, but for others here are some things to consider; - I am six feet tall and the bathtub is on some sort of lions feet, making the edge at the top of my knees. If you are vertically challenged, packaged awesome or simply have trouble as a hurdler, you may keep this in mind.... More

I am looking at some of the other reviews on this site and wondering if we are all speaking of the same Halcyon Hotel in SF because the one I stayed in could not be rated other than excellent. I stayed for six weeks, long enough to get to know everyone working there and to understand the place. The staff... More

This hotel was nice. We arrived at midnight a day late due to delayed flights (I advised by email from airport), the reception was closed (as expected) but our key was not left out, so we contacted the night manager on site. who informed us our booking was cancelled because of a no show and he had no room keys,... The biggest problem with this place is that they don't have a reception that takes care of what happens at the entrance. They have an office located in the basement, which closes at 5.30 pm. When you get back in the evening you risk finding the entrance occupied by homeless/beggars who can be quite intrusive. The rooms are on the... More

at first I was given room with windows in a courtyard and near a ladder - everything was dark and audible that occurs in a corridor, in room there was a strange unpleasant smell I couldn't sleep. Next day I changed number, with windows on the street (is a little noisy), but this number was cozier. In hotel all quite... More
