The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the shower was superb. Also I was impressed how quiet my room was. And I LOVED that there was a radio in the room. Two Cons: there should be really good reading lights in the lobby when one is waiting for a friend to dress; or whatever one is waiting for. Yes I know... More

The Clift hotel is nice, modern and fancy, has new rooms, good space and very comfortable. However, during the checkin the receptionist let us know there will be rooms available in higher floors so we could enjoy the view. We decided to wait for a couple of hours (the checkin begins at 3PM and we have reached the hotel earlier),... More

I stayed at the Clift for two nights while in San Francisco and was really happy with my choice. I'd done a lot of research and knew I wanted to stay close to Union Square and this was perfect. I had been concerned about some of the reviews warning about its proximity to the Tenderloin area but I felt completely... More

I had gone for drinks at the Clift a number of times and was looking forward to booking a room. The lobby and bar of this hotel are hip and cool and I fully expected the same from the rooms. Especially since the price (over $500/night) was one of the highest in the area for the night I booked. Unfortunately,... More

Wanted a room with two beds, but it was next to impossible. Extremely busy and bustling, especially in the lobby in the evening. The bar is very pretty, but extremely dark even during happy hour. I found the front desk to be understaffed, but the bellmen and doormen were very good and helpful. Not crazy about staying in Union Square... More

Great location. The Red Room is a favorite. The room furnishing & carpet were a bit worn. I didn't set the alarm and it went off at 6:15 am, 45 minutes before I wanted to get up. Thought I'd turned it off, but it was just snooze. After 3 attempts, I gave up, got up and unplugged it. Same thing... More

Enjoyed the amenities in the room, and the corner room surrounded with windows, made the room feel very light and airy - which made a small room feel a little bigger. The lobby and hallways downstairs are very dark which makes it feel a bit clubbish. I was only in town for a night, so didn't sample the restaurant or... More

Extremely friendly staff, texted me the day before to ask if I needed anything. Hotel was extremely clean and nice. The room was a little cramped but the bed was huge so I really didn't mind. Parking is a bit expensive but I can't think of any hotel with this quality and location that doesn't have the same problem.

When entering a high concept Schrager-ish hotel I normally get a sinking feeling; the money's been spent on the lobby (which you experience fleetingly) and not on the room. But I'll forgive the Clift it's artsy chair motifs and near-darkness lighting, and the style bar with high prices and poor service. The rooms are decently-proportioned and stocked with comfortable beds.... More

Everything was fine, good bath products and comfy bed. We arrived on a Friday night and the lobby was ridiculously loud. But thankfully didn't hear anything from our room on the 14th floor. Parking is expensive.
