I booked the private apartment and it's sizeable with good views. The common room is paneled in dark wood and the furniture is nice enough (minus a stain or so, but not easily visible). It could use some artwork, the walls are pretty bare. There are two bathrooms, both great. I really liked the products included. The MBR was spacious... More

Great, classic hotel with great comforts...lounge is awesome. The bar/lounge is sexy and comfortable. Service was outstanding. Only one complaint; the hotel is a bit stealthy with no signage really from the street. A small bass plaque is nearly invisible. So, we had to endure a 20 min around the blocks drive by which was annoying.

This was my first time staying at this hotel and it definitely wont be my last time to stay here. Great hotel. Spotless. Staff were very helpful and friendly with every interaction. Really it was a Home away from home (although I have to admit I don't have a friendly doorman at home who greeted me with a smile every... More

A one night stay in San Fran before heading south. The hotel was in a great location close to union square. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly and efficient and the hotel was decorated in a fun/modern way. Added bonus were the great Malin Goetz products in the room.

Everything you'd expect from a Morgan's / Schrager hotel - chic and stylish with very slick service. Studio suite was great value. When I complained that the mini-bar fridge wasn't keeping our own purchases cool enough, they just brought us an additional fridge [in under 5 minutes!]. Malin + Goetz toiletries! Plush house car to the airport for the same... More

The Clift has all the quirkiness of a boutique hotel with all of the great customer service of a Big Brand chain. The staff was unfailing polite and helpful...I was lead two floors away by a very cheerful housekeeper who had real work to do, so she could show me the gym. I was hugely impressed. The rooms are decorated... More

I stayed at this location for a work event I had in SF. The hotel was really cool, but not great lighting as several areas were really dark to me. I assume that is just some kind of ambiance they are going for. My room was perfect - no feathers (I am allergic) and this is one of the few... More

Just a short walk from the many sites in San Francisco; the Clift is where you want to stay. When we arrived the first thing we noticed was the ambiance of the lobby and lounge area. Beautiful one of a kind art pieces that make this hotel unique. The Redwood Room was packed even on a Thur night. The lounge... More

Nice hotel with great location in Union Square. Old hotel nicely redone. Nice bar and lobby area. Rooms very clean and beds comfortable. Very attentive staff in the lobby! Only thing keeping things from a "five" is the size of the bathrooms...

Thank you for your wonderful comments and I am happy to see that you enjoyed your overall stay. As a historical building, we do have some space limitations in some of our rooms; however, there are many different styles and layouts of rooms to help find the right accommodation for every guest's needs. So, there is probably not much to say about the Clift. It is a designer hotel, really dark and nicely furnished. You get a feeling that you normally don't get in a typical hotel. The location is of course top and very central, you are virtually minutes away from everything important in San Francisco. My room was very large and... More
