I stayed 2 nights in the Clift and was very impressed. The staff were extremely friendly, the beds were luxuriously comfortable, the bathrooms were fully stocked, the toiletries were beautiful. The location is perfect - just minutes from Union Square. I really cannot fault the hotel. However the price is crazy! Very expensive. We got our room at a good... More

Had the pleasure of staying here in June. Pros: location, service, large room, unique architecture and furnishings, trendy but relatively charming, bar is AMAZING - wood interior is gorgeous and worth seeing even if you don't stay there, mini bar stocked with amazing variety of food and drink given size and included local-ish fare Cons: location (neighborhood has some sketchy... I liked the room, overall. Staff seems professional. To nitpick: the bathroom could have been bigger, like 2x min would be better.... The decor with curtains is outdated...fancy/cheap...mirrors give an enlarging effect, which is useful. The Chairs in room could be more comfortable. The See through night tables would be better if they had a drawer...too much form not enough... More

We stayed for 4 nights at the Clift during our holiday and got it for a fantastic rate for such a chic hotel. The staff at the front of the hotel were always welcoming, both day and night. The reception is a cool place to sit around, use the free wifi and people watch in general. The big chair in... More

Nice hotel, studio room was spacious and comfortable and we globally liked the young vibe around it. Staff was accomodating although we had to wait quite a lot at check in. Great concierge. Be careful though, the restaurant "asia de cuba" is closed since a long time, hence there is no proper restaurant in the hotel. Also, parking fee is... More

My husband, parents and I took a short family trip to SF and stayed at the Clift hotel for 6 nights. First impressions were good. The lobby is very modern and sophisticated (albeit dark). To our surprise, staff allowed us to check in a few hours early as the room was ready! The room was spacious (we asked for two... More

We stayed 5 nights in July and yes location is great, just DO NOT turn left outside doors as you will end up in the slums of the Tenderloin district. I approached front desk 3x indicating our in room phone was not working properly. Could not call down to front desk or lobby, as when I did I got a... More

The location is fantastic! The hotel is very well kept & the staff is helpful. There are many parties almost every night at the bar. When you enter the lobby, there is a beautiful smell, which they should also use in the hallways. Will go there again & will recommend to others.

Approaching CLIFT on the Bay Bridge, our car got slammed from behind and totaled. I can't begin to tell you how sympathetic and helpful the entire staff was. It was our first stay here but we were treated like VIP's, enjoyed beautiful city views, and I've never been so impressed by any hotel.

To start I will say I am a fan of the Morgan Group. These guys were pioneers in the boutique hotel game!!! Clift was the spot 15 years ago. The bar scene is still good, and they are still living off that. This place needs a gut renovation period!!! There is a reason hotels stopped using carpet, Need I say... More
