We stayed here for a wedding vs the Fairmont not hard to figure why. Price was average for S.F.. Rooms are on the small side and so are the bathrooms but overall we enjoyed our stay. Place was clean, desk staff were very nice and helpful. They actually acted like they were my mom making sure I had everything thing... More

If retro is your thing and you don't mind smaller rooms, this centrally located hotel is a good choice. Smiling and helpful staff (ever rarer these days), comfortable bed and a good chair to sit and read (almost non-existent in hotels these days). Street noise can be intrusive at times, so light sleepers/day nappers need to pack earplugs.

This was my second stay at this hotel and I am really growing fond of it. Let me say I am an old house nut so the age and style is perfect. I also like the smaller size and easy going attitude. While rooms are small, they're comfortable. The lounge area is lovely - nothing like having your morning coffee... More

After travelling by train from Chicago, which lasted for three days and two nights, we arrived in San Francisco and went straight to the artwright Hotel, which I had booked from Australia on the Internet. I had asked for a quiet room at the back of the hotel as we wanted a good nights sleep before returning to Australia the... More

Rooms a little small but location of hotel and staff made our stay enjoyable. Hotel is in a great location just off Sutter and Powell. Staff was more than willing to help with any requests we had. Great hotel overall.

My wife and I stayed here a couple nights during our first trip together in San Francisco October 14-16. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. The room wasn't too small and the bathroom was a little cramped but not to bad. The best thing about this hotel is the location, right on the outside of Union Square... More

This is your typical 100 year old hotel in SF. Price wasn't too bad considering the rates in the city. Great location in union square close to Powell St cable car, Nob Hill, Market Street, etc. Rooms are small and bathroom is smaller. Street noise is a problem if your room fronts to Sutter Street, but hey,,,your in San Francisco.... More

My boyfriend took me on vacation to San Francisco for my birthday and we stayed at the lovely Cartwright Hotel in Union Square. Wow! You couldn't be more in the mix of the city if you tried. The location of this hotel couldn't be more perfect. Plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops. Very central to everything you could possibly need.... More

My friend and I stayed here for 3 nights during a very busy long weekend due to the America's Cup going on. We booked using the HotelTonight app and got a great deal. Location is ideal, especially for 2 women traveling in a city they didn't know. Very central to many activities, bars, restaurants and public transportation. We felt very... More

We stayed here for our weeks holiday in September. The location is preface for shopping and getting about the City. The rooms are smaller than most Hotels in the area, but the price compared to the Hyatt reflects this. However, I found the service and family feel to the place better than most of the big Hotel chains. We really... More
