If you are looking for glamor and glitz then don't stay here. If you desire an old world experience and enjoy books, bikes and brews then this is your spot. The Rex is an older hotel with great bones. The tiny elevator reminds me of European hotels. The library bar is a fun spot to relax and have coffee in... More

As a destination management company based in Las Vegas, NV, we expect a lot for our clients and of the places we stay and place our clients. The Rex's hospitality was Amazing for us and our group. We had a larger than normal group for business, but the property is great for convention trips and tourism groups alike! I worked... More

When my husband and I were staying at the Rex last november, I passed out from a bacterial infection and needed an ambulance immediately. The outstanding staff not only arranged to get one for me in minutes (which saved my life), but when we returned from the hospital the next day and I was safe and sound they greeted us... More

I travel on business about 75 nights per year and had that once in a decade experience tonight when the hotel had overbooked its rooms. What was unusual here was that I only booked it yesterday! The front desk clerk tried to be friendly but she also told me it was usual hotel policy to overbook the hotel and send... More

Hello. I offer my sincerest apologies for what occurred with your room reservation, and I'm incredibly disappointed with how everything transpired. Please know that although many hotels, like airlines, overbook their reservations, this is not a common practice of Hotel Rex or Joie de Vivre Hotels. The information that the Front Desk Host shared with you was incredibly inaccurate and... More

We live in San Francisco and had the pleasure of staying here for 2 nights just to act like tourists. Room was great and very clean. Bar scene is fun. All personnel were excellent. Close to Union Square so walking distance of city center.

Very nice hotel in Union Square close to shopping etc. Small room as you would expect in city but very comfortable (bed was amazingly comfortable). They also gave all guests a glass of wine (good wine too!) every evening which was lovely particularly as San Fran is so expensive!

My mom and I stayed in the Rex for two days over the Christmas holidays. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the staff, and was able to have an early checkin. The hotel staff were always friendly and attentive. The room was clean and tastefully decorated. Not to mention the complementary wine every evening in the lobby. We both... More

Only a two night stay and this was enough! The room was well worn and very small. The windows were so dirty you could not see out with a thick layer of accumulated dust on the casement, so much so I took a photo! The room was not serviced and we heard on leaving other guests complaining of this. The... More

I really wanted to like this hotel a lot. By the reviews it seemed to be a quaint, charming boutique hotel. To some I guess it could be, to me it was just small and quaint. I didn't get the charming vibe. Pros- Location! Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Free glass of wine at 5. Wifi pretty fast and easy. Cons-... More

We were in the Bay area for a family wedding in Napa and wanted to show our son San Francisco for a few days. I chose the Hotel Rex because I hoped that it would have more charm than a standard Marriott or Hyatt. We were not disappointed. The hotel had the small cozy charm we were looking for and... More
