Good hotel with friendly staff! The hotel is close to Union Square, Market Street, and Chinatown. All are just few blocks. If you want Fishermans Warf you can ride the streetcar that runs along Market Street. The hotel is a good solid place to stay when visiting San Francisco!

A very comfortable stay for a week at this hotel. It's very central located. The staff was very friendly and had lots of tips to make the stay comfortable. I would recommend it. Will return . Orion was helpful in helping us at all times, the check in with Gitanryali was so smooth and Jeff is very friendly.

I stayed at the Hotel Rex one night while waiting for a flight home. Built in 1907 after the great earthquake of 1906, it is apparently one of the oldest hotels around. Sort of a Bohemian Paris. It is a boutique style hotel so if you are looking for a glitzy large chain hotel, this is not for you. The... More

Popped in and out for a quick overnight while waiting to catch a flight out the next day. What a charming hotel! The room was small but very clean and nicely equipped. The hotel is convenient to Union Square and most of the attractions in the city. Will stay here again!

We loved this hotel! Our best (and most expensive) hotel during our trip to California on July 2012 with my friend. Hotel was cute, it had really good Paris vibes. Rooms were small but cozy. Good location, nice service, complementary wine every day. I hope that the hotel Pug Max is still there!

My wife had previously stayed in this hotel, so when we stayed in San Francisco prior to traveling to Napa Valley, we stayed here. It is within walking distance of Union Square and some really good restaurants. The room was very clean and just what we expected. The elevators is small and sometimes you have to wait a bit for... My wife and I stayed one night at Hotel Rex in early July 2015 before we drove to Yosemite the next day for a week's vacation. I had picked it because they had the best price near Union Square and AT&T Park since we wanted to go to a Giants game that night. First off, just know first and foremost... More

We prefer to stay in boutique hotels when we travel. After lots of research we chose The Rex based on so many positive reviews-big mistake. The location is OK, but in the grittier section of Sutter Street. When you walk into the hotel, there is a musty smell as this is a very, old hotel. The lobby is dark and dreary,... More

Cute hotel with antique furniture and great staff. There is a coffee and sweets for breakfast and wine for happy hour and also a small bar for visiting with people, The location is great and has a nice charm to it. The rooms are small but well done, it is an older hotel with charm.
