Beck's is perfect. PIck up your car from the Airport and drive into SF - Beck's is so easy to find! Comfy rooms & good shower - what else do you need after a day touring the sights? And JAKE is the man - works at reception, extremely helpful, kind and full of useful info! Thanks Jake, we had a... More

Great location, very clean quiet rooms, friendly staff. A nice experience for our first night in SF. It's away from the craziness of downtown in a peaceful unique neighborhood. We have family in Noe Valley so it was within walking distance. We will stay again next trip.

The perfect spot for a motel in the city, imho. I'm even a bit hesitant to want to review Beck's favorably as part of me wants to hold onto it like a secret spot. That's not possible, of course, it's too well known for all that it has to offer. This is my second time here in under a year,... More

An ancient elevator takes you to the third floor, be patient with it. Pretty quiet at night considering the neighborhood and busy Market street, but be prepared for the antique streetcars that start squeeking their way up the street at 6:00 AM.

Best located lodging in the Castro. Good value, great location and staff. Well appointed room. Everything worked and was very clean. Staff delivered extra towels on request. On public transport lines and walking distance to everything in The Castro.

Great location. Loved the trolley stop location near front door. In heart of Castro, great restaurants nearby. Great hiking trip to Alamo Square. Near downtown and the F-line trolley to downtown and Fisherman's Wharf can't be beat. The muni is only two blocks away as is a Safeway market for those a little get together on the outdoor patio to... More

My first time staying there. Will definitely be back. Room was clean & comfortable. No A/C but that was ok because San Francisco is normally pretty cold. Convenient to subway/rail & trolly. I understand this hotel has a bit of a "reputation" but I found nothing to be annoyed about.

Right so Beck's Motor Lodge is a cheap and cheerful place to stay! There's not much in the way of thrills and the decor leaves a lot to be desired. Also, the rooms do not have air-conditioning which would have been very welcome during my stay; there was an unexpected heatwave at the time. HOWEVER, Beck's Motor Lodge IS CHEAP... More

This is a basic but comfortable motel in a really good location a block away from the heart of the Castro. However, once I had had tax added onto the cost of my room it was astronomical. Basically the same price as I had paid for a gorgeous hotel downtown. I booked it at short notice so probably got stung... More

Located directly at Upper Market street, good access to the F-line to bring you downtown. Very much worn out place. Rooms are clean, but outdated. Poor bathroom, needs to be renovated. No breakfast. Disappointing stay.

Staying in The Castro

Neighborhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighborhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighborhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theaters and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
