Stayed here 3 days. I picked Becks primarily due to the location near the Castro. I used to live in the Castro 20 years ago so wanted to be near my old stomping grounds. Anyway, I knew from my past that Becks could be questionable at times, but I wanted the location so didn't really care. Made my reservation over... More

Not recommended at all. The hotel held an amount on my credit card just as an 'insurance' as i was paying cash for my stay every day. The hotel then charged my visa a few days after the left the whole country. It took me a few days to finally get a hold of the hotel's manager, whose response was... More

Hello! When we reviewed your stay together, our conversation was cordial, thus I am surprised by this. During our discussion, it was confirmed that 2 nights were paid for in cash and 1 night was paid for on your credit card. I would never say to trust no one or hang up on one of our dear guests. I am... More

This is my 2nd trip to this hotel - my first was a few years ago - before the renovations. I booked this through booking.com - although i got an email from the hotel as soon as I completed the booking.com process confirming my reservation, the charges etc. Check in and out was friendly and easy - I managed to... We recently visited Beck's Motor Lodge in SF for 4 nights. The rooms have recently been renovated and were very clean and modern. There are new beds and pillows that were very comfortable. The décor is a bit minimalist but also very easy to keep clean. Our room was very clean. The rooms have new flat screen TV's and our... More

WOW....I was looking forward to seeing the "new" Beck's and was NOT disappointed. You're in for a treat if you haven't stayed here yet since their recent renovations. It's just simply gorgrous. The finishes are nice and the design layout is amazing. Who knew these old rooms had so much space in them. GREAT JOB, Beck's Motor Lodge! I'm already... More

We were very pleased with the recent renovations: it now has extremely quiet, mini-split heating and air units in the rooms, a large walk in shower (no-tub, which is fine with me), wall mounted, flat screen tv, good internet service, new carpeting, furniture and a funky but usefully organized closet that contained shelving, the fridge, hair dryer coffee maker, ironing... I stayed at this property this past weekend for two nights. The room I had was a renovated one and it was spacious, clean and comfortable. The mattress was comfortable, and the thermostat was easy to use. I was really impressed with the bathroom and shower. This is a must check it out type of property if you're going to... More

Just came back from a weekend stay at Beck's and I have to say the new rooms are great!! Last time we stayed here the rooms were looking very tried and smelled so bad that my partner never wanted to return. I talked him into going back now that the rooms been remodled and he was so shocked and said... More

The newly remodeled rooms are beautiful for old small motel rooms. You can EVERY word and movement in the rooms on either side, so bring earplugs. The location is great, and that's what you're paying for here. For me it's way too expensive, but that's San Francisco for you. Rooms at the St. Francis on Union Square are less expensive... More

I love staying at Beck's. If you want to spend time in the Castro, or have easy access to downtown without staying downtown, Golden Gate Park, the Haight to Hayes Valley, there is no better place to stay. The renovations are still in progress, but I believe all the front rooms are done. They currently are doing the back rooms... More

Staying in The Castro

Neighborhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighborhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighborhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theaters and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
