My husband and I stayed here for four nights while visiting my daughter, who lives within a ten minute walk. It was very convenient for us, and there are many things to do and see within an easy walk as well. Yes, it is a bit worn, but that adds to the character. The decor is eclectic and reflects the... I had a great stay at 24 Henry from the reservation to the checkout. The web reservation process was quick, efficient and transparent with no surprises. When I arrived, Walter was there to greet me with my keys and a tour of the place. Free wi-fi access was great too with a strong signal. The street is residential so its... More

For a location you probably couldn't get better Two minute walk from the Castro and a short ride to Downtown and the Piers However, the decor is dated, and only one room is en suite; and you pay a premium to get it. The breakfast is basic, but there are plenty of diners near by to visit instead. Walter is... More

Beautiful, location in the middle of Castro, in a quite street is the gay B&B of Walter at Henry street 24. Wow, it is if you come to your old grandmother, who did not had the energy, or the money for the last years to clean, or to organize, her house hold. All is dirty run down and old! The host... More

Was looking for something near Castro since it was my 1st visit to SF. I had to chance room, but they were so nice, even reduced the price since I was there for 11 days. Yes it would need a little paint here and there, but the place is very quiet, it's clean, rooms done every morning. Only thing I... More

I am SO happy I ended up staying at 24 Henry! I had booked 5 nights in a hostel downtown, but I stayed at the hostel for one night and it was the worst place I've ever stayed in my life. I cancelled the rest of my stay at the hostel and started looking around for where I could stay... More

My best friend and I were making our pilgrimmage to San Francisco and were looking for a place to stay in the Castro. Our first option on AirBnB was booked so we decided on this place instead. As many others have mentioned it is a bit worn and faded. But the room was decently spacious and clean. I slept pretty... More

I stayed here because I wanted a gay friendly B&B in an original Victorian house in the Castro. The owner was very friendly and welcoming when I turned up and I stayed in the green room which was comfortable all be it cold in the evening. The B&B is in a fantastic quiet location at the edge of the Castro... More

I relied on the other reviews on this site when when my usual place in the Castro was already full for the dates I needed, and I decided to book this B&B instead. I wish I'd had a fuller picture, which is why I'm writing this review now. Overall impressions: This is a lovely, fading old Victorian in a very... More

Staying in The Castro

Neighborhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighborhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighborhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theaters and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
