The Primrose Inn really does look like it's photos online and is a short walk to downtown Bar Harbor. Everything there was wonderful during our stay from the delicious afternoon tea, to free movies and bottled water and pop, to the gorgeous rooms with fireplaces and jetted tubs. 600-thread count sheets and complementary robes were a nice touch. The breakfasts... more

The Primrose Inn certainly seems to be one of the most popular bed and breakfast inns on the island. The hotel itself is an old victorian home with about 11 rooms, including a couple of rooms for the owners and their two children. The breakfasts are good, and the afternoon tea time is great especially after a long hike. The... more

Spent a wonderful weekend at the Inn. The owners who took over the Inn only two years ago have done an excellent job at making their guests feel at home while also feeling pampered. A quick orientation to the Inn is provided upon check-in. The little, or maybe not so little, extras made this stay special. There is a beautiful... more

We absolutely loved our stay in the Holland room at the Primrose Inn. Our chairs and bed were very comfortable. We have seen pictures of the other rooms, and believe we would have been happy with any of them. We strongly recommend you go to their website and check out all of the rooms, and the inn itself. My wife... more

Catherine and Jeff keep a very beautiful and relaxing inn. The food was wonderful. Beyond that Catherine and Jeff made every effort to tell me about local restaurants, attractions, and other things to do. I wholeheartedly recommend staying at the Primrose Inn. more

My husband and I just returned from celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary in Bar Harbor, Maine. We had the fortunate experience of staying at the Primrose Inn. The Innkeepers, Jeff and Cathy were lovely hosts and I cannot say enough of the wonderful breakfasts that fueled our daily hiking trips into Acadia Park. Between 4 and 6 pm coffee/tea was... more

Before booking a stay at the Primrose, I read other reviews from travelers and was confused by some of the contradictory ratings. Most people seemed to love the Primrose, but others were harsh. I decided to give it a try because no one can please everyone. After visiting, I understood it a little better. There were two of us and... more

Management response from

After reading this review, we contacted the guests via email to clarify why the husband felt we had offended him at the beginning of their stay. The wife responded to our email and indicated that her husband, who had indicated at check-in that he was a smoker, was offended by being asked to sign a no-smoking agreement at check-in. The...

What a wonderful couple of days. Jeff and Catherine were so helpful and friendly, and Catherine's breakfasts and afternoon tea snacks were delightful. The Inn is just a short walk from all that is happening in downtown Bar Harbor. They suggested a nice restaurant for us (Havana, Cuban cuisine), and it was literally the tastiest food we have ever had.... more

Our stay was definitely more relaxing, detailed, and organized than we could have ever imagined. The inn itself is beautiful and welcoming. The innkeepers are very caring and have a great eye for detail. The location is great for walking and/or driving around Bar Harbor. more
