My husband and I stayed at the Black Friar Inn for two nights just last week. The innkeepers, Perry and Sharon, were kind and very informative. Perry's intro to the Bar Harbor area, restaurant suggestions and general information were all quite helpful. I have no doubt our meals were fantastic thanks to his tips (Galyn's and Thurston's lobster pound). The... More

My husband and I just returned from a vacation that included a one night stay at the Black Friar. We were both VERY pleased with this Inn. We stayed in room #5 and it was fresh, airy, spacious and felt very clean. The location of this Inn can't be beat - it's tucked just behind Cottage Street, but is walking... More

My boyfriend and I spent the weekend at the Black Friar Inn and really enjoyed our stay. We have been to Acadia National Park before, but never actually stayed in Bar Harbor. The location of the Inn was fantastic! We could walk to waterfront, shops, and dining with ease, but it was off the beaten path enough that you didn't... More

My boyfriend and I just stayed at the Black Friar this past weekend. The location was great & we loved our room (#6). Both our room and the inn was cozy and the decor a bit more "male-friendly" as I like to call it than most B & B's. I took notice that water pressure in the shower was very... More

I just got back from a weekend stay at the Black Friar Inn in Bar Harbor, ME and all I can say is that it was one of the best experiences of my life. From the moment you enter, there is just this comfortable and relaxed feeling. It has that homely touch that no motel or hotel could give. The... More

We stayed for two nights at this beautiful and immaculate Inn. The owners were knowledgeable and friendly, and we met some interesting guests. It is right in town and you can walk to everything. The price was right too. Oh, and of course the breakfasts were the best part!

We stayed at the Black Friar Inn for two nights in June. The inn is beautiful and our room with three stained glass windows was charming. Sharon and Perry were friendly and gracious. They even let us play with their sweet dog, Phantom! Sharon and Perry gave us great tips on what to see and do in Bar Harbor and... More

My new husband and I stayed at the Black Friar for our honeymoon in October. We had never stayed in a B&B before. It was wonderful! It was like staying with very relaxed, unobtrusive family. The breakfasts were gourmet and the rooms were immaculate. We absolutely loved the location, too! Just steps away from the harbor, but far enough off... More

We've been meaning to do this review for quite a while now. My husband and I have been staying at the Black Friar Inn every July since 1993. Acadia National Park is just a stone's throw away with hiking, biking, and kayaking literally at your door step. Also, since it's located in Bar Harbor on a side street, you can... More

This was a part of our exploring the New England area, traveling throughout MA, CT, VT and ME. We felt we just had to stay at a B&B and chose the Black Frair Inn. After much research it was determined that this one fit our needs. We were pleasantly treated by Sharon, in fact we found her to be very... More
