We made reservations for this place. It was a late dinner but worth the wait. The chef is amazing and uses fresh ingredients to create amazing dishes. Always order the specials. The blueberry butter for the rolls was enough to bring me back. The prices were inexpensive for the food you get. Wonderful place.

We went to Bar Harbor for our 25th Wedding anniversary, last full week in June. From a recommendation of another friend we stayed at the Black Friar Inn. It's located in a perfect spot, you can walk anywhere in town within minutes, yet you are off the "beaten" path so you don't hear so many people. Tom and staff are... More

We had a fantastic stay. The location is great, the interior is done with so much heart and ideas and the staff is friendly and welcoming. It is the perfect place for a stay in Bar Harbor. The only thing that could make the inn better would be an outside area for breakfast and dinner or beers.

A great start to our New England Vacation. My wife and I stayed here for the first 3 days of our 1 week vacation and we definitely pick a great place to start. It was close to everything. Tom and his staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The food was great.. The pub... More

Great place. The Friar is my favorite place in Bar Harbor, it is located close to downtown, has parking and the rooms are unique and cozy. The Innkeeper is great and the best feature is the breakfast, hearty Maine food, just the ideal meal to start your day. Best of all, it is very affordable and has a family kind... More

My wife and I first came to Black Friars Inn in September 2013 for food and drinks and loved it straight away - we stayed all evening. The Inn itself, the look and feel of the place was instantly welcoming and homely (not just because I'm from London, England). The food was top notch, Don is a wizard in the... More

This Inn is one of my favorites. It's in the downtown area, but still feels secluded. Best of all, it has its own pub....the perfect place to start our end your adventures and meet other guests and visitors. The rooms are very unique...small and cozy. We've been to the area several times and the Black Friar is your best bet... More

Loved staying at the Black Friar Inn for our 1 year anniversary celebration. We were able to walk to all of the great places in downtown Bar Harbor and the food was absolutely wonderful. Tom was a wonderful inn keeper and the bartenders were great fun as well. Highly recommend staying here and definitely recommend that you get some dinner... More

A friend and I stayed here for one night when we visited Acadia. Nice little inn with a bar and restaurant on site. The host was really nice. Room is a little dark but nice and clean. I like the location since it's far from the busy street but close enough to walk. Parking might be a problem sometimes, but... More
