This Inn is one of my favorites. It's in the downtown area, but still feels secluded. Best of all, it has its own pub....the perfect place to start our end your adventures and meet other guests and visitors. The rooms are very unique...small and cozy. We've been to the area several times and the Black Friar is your best bet... More

we honeymooned in Bar Harbor ME and chose to stay at Black Friar Inn....Friar Tom is a great innkeeper! The staff works well together and provides entertaining conversations:) The Inn is within walking distance to downtown and the food was all very good! Live entertainment in the evening was lots of fun! We'd definitely stay again!!!!

Loved staying at the Black Friar Inn for our 1 year anniversary celebration. We were able to walk to all of the great places in downtown Bar Harbor and the food was absolutely wonderful. Tom was a wonderful inn keeper and the bartenders were great fun as well. Highly recommend staying here and definitely recommend that you get some dinner... More

A friend and I stayed here for one night when we visited Acadia. Nice little inn with a bar and restaurant on site. The host was really nice. Room is a little dark but nice and clean. I like the location since it's far from the busy street but close enough to walk. Parking might be a problem sometimes, but... More

My wife and I had a room booked there for the 4th of July weekend. Our room was fantastic. English style room with lots of rich wood accents and a private bathroom. The room was very clean and comfortable. We also had the opportunity to check out a few other rooms and each room is unique. The real pleasure of... More

I enjoyed an incredible dinner at this wonderful inn. Off the beaten path, you'll find the Black Friar that offers a very cozy setting and one that lies off of touristy main st. The staff was wonderful - as was the menu. I enjoyed the baked chicken which was cooked to perfection. The chefs in the open kitchen really know... More

We loved Black Friar Inn. We stayed at this Inn 20 years ago but this time it had a Pub right within the Inn. We were celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary!! The food, atmosphere and conversation was great. The first night we arrived we walked right downstairs to the Pub for a delicious meal, loved the convenience of this! There... More

This was our first visit to Bar Harbor and so our first stay at the Black Friar. We had an amazing stay and had a great time. Tom and his staff were very accommodating and gave us great advise on things to see and visit in Bar Harbor and Acadia Park. The proximity to the village was a big plus,... More

This is our second stay at the Black Friar. FriarTom and his merry band (Jenn, Taylor, Don, Nadine) all work to create an absolutely wonderful place to stay in Bar Harbor. Our room was beautiful and the Inn was comfortable and welcoming. We ate several times at the Inn during our stay because of the gourmet menu and the reasonable... More

My wife and I just finished off our honeymoon at the black friar and had a blast! We split up our week on the island at another inn downtown that was waaaaaay overpriced and snobby (there's surprisingly a lot of that in bar harbor hotels). The black fair was anything but that- and on top of the casual, comfy at... More
