We had stayed in Bar Harbor for 3 nights in a different hotel before changing things up and staying here for 2 nights. During our 3 previous days we tried to find The Black Friar to no avail. We asked several locals where the The Black Friar was located and/or where to find Summer St and no one seemed to... more

Stayed one night after arrinving on the Cat -- staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was the nicest one we had during the trip from Maine through New Hampshire and Vermont. Added pleasure to be able to return to a cozy pub after wandering on a chilly autumn evening -- warm appljack brandy and cider was delish. more

We just got back from our trip to Bar Harbor where we stayed at the Black Friar for 3 nights. This place is geat. We travelled with 2 other couples. All our rooms were different. We were in room 5 with a skylight. Very bright and cheery! Service was good, from the owner, Tom, who even filled in as chef... more

Were only able to stay a couple of nights regardless the owner made us feel as if we were treasured guest. The included breakfast was more then we ever hoped for (you have to try the banana walnut pancakes if you get a chance). having a pub right down stairs as a great bonus. For extra treat try to get... more

My fiance and I stayed at the Black Friar Inn during our Acadia vacation. I am from Maine originally (now residing in RI) so I am familiar with the area. This B&B was great. Within walking distance to Main street shopping, restaurants, bars as well as ocean front attractions. Tom (the innkeeper) was very nice and gave us a tour... more

New owner, Tom, has created a very unique experience. This is the only B&B I've found with a pub and restaurant in it. We stayed here two nights and did enjoy the pub one night(maybe enjoyed it a little too much, but no worries, we simply had to walk up stairs!) The Black Friar has a fantastic location. It's on... more

We just spent 3 nights at the Black Friar Inn B&B and it was excellent. The new owners where very hospitable and went out of their way to guarantee the quality of our stay. The house and rooms were clean, neat and well appointed. This place has character!. The superb location enabled us to walk everywhere and really experience the... more

This is far and away the best B & B I've ever stayed in. My new wife and I went to Bar Harbor to get married adn knew that we wanted to stay at one of the many B & Bs that are there. We had done some research about the different ones in the area and decided on The... more

My wife and I are really not B&B people, but she wanted to try a little "romantic getaway" place rather than the usual chain motel. After reading many online reviews of this place and others, we thought we'd try it out. Pluses: The rooms and the whole inn are clean to a fault. Tastefully decorated with lots of woodwork and... more

My husband and I stayed at the Black Friar Inn for two nights just last week. The innkeepers, Perry and Sharon, were kind and very informative. Perry's intro to the Bar Harbor area, restaurant suggestions and general information were all quite helpful. I have no doubt our meals were fantastic thanks to his tips (Galyn's and Thurston's lobster pound). The... more
