We were coming off a 2-night stay at the Keeper's House on Isle au Haut and we wanted a cheap, clean room in Bar Harbor away from the noise of downtown. We've been to MDI many times (20?) and we've never stayed in Bar Harbor. The Central House more than met our needs and that's why I'll give it a... More

Very clean and friendly atmosphere. The house is three blocks away from downtown Bar Harbor. Very easy to get to the National Park or the harbor. Parking is available but we walked to everything but the park. We stayed on the first floor. You could hear the people above us, especially when they rolled suitcases on the bar floor. Highly... This is a very reasonably priced hotel in the middle of everything. It's not over-the-top fancy, but the rooms were super clean, and you can't beat the price. It is as nice as some of the B&Bs in the area for half the price, and there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance if you are hungry.

This house is located within walking distance of all of Bar Harbor. It is not close enough where you have people walking by all day but within walking minutes of the area. There was a few issues nothing major, ice machine, internet but the keeper worked and corrected all the problems quickly. I would recommend and stay there again.

This property is a "B" meaning bed. They don't serve breakfast but do have coffee, tea, and cocoa on the porch. A nice restaurant with outdoor seating was located right across the street and another breakfast place was a short walk down the street. I went with my sister and had a nice room with twin beds. The property was... More

Chose this place based on reviews, location and price.. In that order. Pros: very convenient, easy check in and out, clean, comfortable bed. I liked the access to a small common refrigerator, and a kcup brewing machine for coffee and teas. Cons: this place is adorable but needs some simple facial updates. Paint and dry wall tape pealing in the bathroom, windows... More

My husband and I absolutely LOVE Bar Harbor. It's our most favorite place in the whole wide world. Many people share our view, however, which leads to some outrageous lodging prices. On our last visit, we were really on a tight budget, but we didn't want to stay at a flea-bag motel. (I'm a clean freak). Enter The Central House!... More

We booked here on the fly after leaving a 'conventional' chain hotel in Bangor. Price was very reasonable, the location is perfect and the place has 10X the charm/personality of that chain. Our only regret was that we just had one night in Bar Harbor and at the Central House. We really enoyed everything about the area and know we'll... More

Stayed 2 nights a The Central House in mid-October. The room was pretty with a canopy queen-sized bed and very clean. The common areas of the inn were comfortable and well use by the guests. The free coffee/tea that is available 24/7 is a plus. Wi-Fi worked well and the people were pleasant and very helpful. The location of the... More

The location is perfect, walkable to everywhere. The price is a very good value. The rooms were spotless. We stayed two nights, both on the 3rd floor, very comfortable. Steep stairs may be a challenge for some.
