Beautiful and quiet inn a short drive from downtown Bar Harbor. Comfortable bed and gorgeous bath with large jacuzzi tub and two person shower. Breakfast is wonderful with fresh fruit. We had veggie omelet a one day and fruit crepes the next. The best thing of all is that innkeeper Dan has a comprehensive knowledge of the area and will... More

Pluses: Great location just a few blocks from Bar Harbor's restaurants and attractions (don't miss Havana, right up the street), Extremely convenient access to Acadia National Park. The common living areas are charming. Food quality was good, but no choices are offered... coffee/tea, juice, fruit cup, and the entrée of the day. Minuses: No one was there to greet us... More

You pull up to the Chiltern to see this carriage house of character and charm. Owners, Dan and Joan greeted us warmly, while showing us our accommodations. Our room was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was spacious with a large jacuzzi. In the morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast, that I want to replicate! Dan and Joan were so kind... More

I stayed at the Chiltern Inn with my boyfriend in April of 2012. We really enjoyed ourselves. We were greeted upon arrival and shown around the house which was very spacious and well decorated. Our room was a good size with a very comfy bed! The bathroom was like a mini spa with a jacuzzi and large glassed in shower.... More

My husband and I went to Bar Harbor for our anniversary and stayed at the Chiltern Inn. It is amazing. We loved the indoor pool, and our bathroom had this huge 2 person jacuzzi that we used each night. Breakfast was to die for.......huge veggie omelet and the fresh fruit crepes were spectacular!!! We plan to return in August so... More

At first when we arrived, Dan the owner greeted us and showed us the Inn, it was huge and has a lot of character. If you are a few couples staying at the same location this is the ideal place since there are rooms to sit and chat, reading room, music room, theater, etc. Dan & Joan were outstanding host,... More

Usually we just use a room wherever we vacation to sleep, shower and change clothes. We don't really care about the ambiance or decorations, etc. We do expect cleanliness, comfortability, peace and quiet so we can sleep at night, and service if we are in need of something. So our expectations are not that great. But, we were very disappointed... More

What a beautiful historic home this is. The odd thing is that in the lovely Victorian swimming room the fireplace and Jacuzzi did not work. It seemed to be a problem having a log for our fireplace...they were not well stocked. Our shower ceiling had a terrible leak from upstairs, and the ceiling was literally falling down except for plastic... More

I was a bit worried I had booked the Inn and then read the reviews. As many people have stated there were no staff to great us or check us out. We personally enjoyed this ...we were there to spend time as a couple not make small chat with inn keepers. When needed staff were available and cooked up a... More

I needed a room for one night in Bar Harbor and went to my corporate travel agent website to book one. I booked the Chiltern by mistake (either the website's or my own, I'm not sure). Let be clear - this was NOT the Inn's fault - what follows is: I immediately tried to call the Inn and cancel. All... More
