Rated this 4 instead of 5 only because the room is very plain - nothing special to look at. But once we settled in, we found it extremely pleasant to stay in. Sparkling clean bathroom which you rarely find with tile, nice linens, convenient for a multi-day stay with 2 sinks, a dressing area and plenty of room. We were... More

Great place to stay. Staff very very helpful and friendly. Keep in mind it is an older motel. Our room very clean, freshly painted great bed. If you like vintage, this is your place, it's like a "motor lodge" from the 50's, A short drive to Acadia National and walking distance to Bar Harbor.

At first sight the motel looks as so many in the US. Relatively expensive but that could be explained by the location and the time in the holiday season. The room I had was very well maintained and I felt really comfortable in it. Freshly painted, a bed that is as good as in a major hotel and really clean.... More

Though an older motel, it provides clean, comfortable rooms and excellent service. Rooms are kept clean and made up promptly each day. A continental breakfast is provided which probably would not satisfy lodgers who prefer traditional breakfast. The motel is located within reasonable walking distance of the town center and is convenient to the adjacent national park. Staff is helpful,... More

My wife and I stayed here with our two kids. It was a very dated, but very clean hotel. The mattresses were not great, lacking support, and the rug was showing wear. The operating family was friendly and ran an efficient hotel. My biggest concern was it was expensive for what you get, even for the Bar Harbor area. For... More

My wife and I stayed at the Highbrook the first few days of September. Here's what I would say the motel isn't. It isn't on the water nor does it offer an ocean view. It doesn't have a pool. It isn't in the heart of the Bar Harbor restaurant district. It isn't a big chain operation. OK, now what it... More

A small family owned motel which has the highest cleaning standards I've ever seen. We stayed in one of the mini-suites (king bed with sitting area) that was huge. From the minute we walked in you could smell light lemon and the room/bath were spotless. There was a continental breakfast that worked every day. The bed was extremely comfortable and... More

Nice large room - can move around without bumping into one another or the furniture - including a sitting area. Extremely clean and immaculate. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Conveniently located to Acadia and town. Plenty of space to store your gear (suitcases, packs, etc.) so it's not in your way. Grab and go breakfast is simple and convenient. Look... More

One of the main reasons we chose to stay at the Highbrook Motel was due to all the comments about how clean it was. I must say that not only was it clean, it was the cleanest place I have ever stayed at. Spotlessly clean! The location was great...pretty and quiet. The staff was very friendly, the rates were reasonable... More

I am usually skeptical about motels, but Highbrook Motel really took me by surprise. The room smelt fresh and was impeccably clean! Cleanness is the most important criterion for me, so needless to say that this motel scored huge with me. The bathroom was spotless, with no trace of soap scum or mildew even at the toughest corners. The shower... More
