For fabulous views of the ocean, islands and boats you can't beat Balance Rock Inn. Whether you decide to get a room with ocean views or decide, as we did, to stay in the carriage house with its great private garden porches; you still get the views from the living room, bar, porch, or pool. We spent one whole day... more

Location was great being right on the water and in the center of town. Our room was lovely, seemed very luxorious; however the buidings and grounds needed some attention. I know it was the end of the season but one person doing full time watching could have kept spots painted, cleaned and tidied; it looked a little tired. Our biggest... more

The locaton of Balance Rock Inn is stunning. It is close enough to town to walk and yet right on the bay, at the end of a quiet cul-du-sac. We had a great time, loved all the improvements made this year. The staff was excellent as usual. We enjoyed the breakfast and patio bar. As I said "keep up the... more

We've been traveling to Bar Harbor for years and I've noticed that for the most part there are only large motels and small B&B's there.. We like to stay at mid-sized inns - 20 to 30 rooms so we thought Balance Rock Inn was a real find - just what we were looking for. Besides the size we loved that... more

My husband and I went to Balance Rock Inn with three other couples last month. We all loved it. The inn and the grounds are big enough so that we could have fun without bothering anyone else. We stayed in room 105 which was a treat. It is a large room/suite right off the lobby that we were able to... more

We were so happy to have found this hidden gem on the water in Bar Harbor last year. We had a great time hiking, but an even greater time having Sergio's Irish coffe in the bar. The new staff have really gotten a lot done in their renovations. Things are looking much better than they did last year when we... more

The owners of Balance Rock should be ashamed of themselves for taking so little pride in their establishment. I'm a reporter and flew into town last minute for a story. This was the only hotel with availability. The room was $420. I travel a lot for work and at this price I expected a very nice room. It was abysmal.... more

We loved our room at Balance Rock Inn. We stayed there last year and we can see that a lot of energy and money have been spent on the building and the rooms since then. We enjoyed drinks in the evening at the quiet bar on the veranda and the buffet breakfast in the morning. What I liked was that... more

We were first placed in a room that was so tiny you couldn't even turn around (and this at $355 a night). We moved to a room that had very dark wallpaper and three lamps with 50 watt bulbs ---- you simply could not see. We were moved to a room that was spacious enough, and with sufficient lighting, but... more
