Coming back again in a week from today. We stayed last year in February and had an absolute amazing time. I loved being able to learn to surf, go snorkeling, SUP, kayak with the dolphins and turtles, see whales and even had a monk seal come up on the beach and sit with me :) We spend two weeks there... This place is awful. We drove up the west side of Oahu thinking that this was going to be unbelievably nice. What we discovered was just the opposite. The nightly rate was $80.00 and I don't think they had $80.00 in furnishings. It only had one room with the bathroom in the center of the room. Think of it as... More

My uncle is (ret) Army, so we've stayed at rest camp several times over the past 20years. It was a shining facility many years ago, and it fell into disrepair, had several staff and security issues. I'm very happy to see that things have turned around as of late. We stayed in a two bedroom cabin for a family reunion... More

Took recommendation from friend who was stationed in Hawaii 20 years ago. As we approached the Waianae area on Farrington Hwy, it looked like we were driving through South Texas border towns minus the beautiful ocean view on left and lush mountains on the right. Run down shanties, stray dogs and chickens running around, junk cars in front yards, trash,... More

Family of four stayed in studio but needed rollaway bed for extra $15 a night since room only comes with a full size bed. There was baked on food debris left on a pot and baking pan. Two other small chairs and a table with two small chairs that is very inconvenient to the kitchen. Loud music could be heard... More

Nice and quiet place to get away from the crowd in Honolulu. Nice size flat screen TV, refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave inside. They should have queen of king size beds though. Nice patio deck to watch the beach and maybe 40 feet from the beach. Get to watch the dolphins in the bay almost every morning and you can get... More

Not luxury but good value. Have all the water toys you want to rent at great prices, especially compared to other Hawaii venues. We had a studio which seemed very secure after seeing others comments about theft. Airconditioned with full kitchen, might want to stop at Pearl commissary on the way out. They have a small shoppette on site. Beach... More

We had stayed at this nice beach and in the cabins some years before. They have updated the cabins, but they have very limited furniture. Beds were comfortable, rooms very clean, fully equipped kitchen. Front porch is wonderful to watch sunset. It is very practical for a small family. Downsides: the on base eatery, very casual, open only on Saturday... More

If your the type of person that likes to "rough it" out in the great outdoors, than this is probably a little too cushy for you. However, if you're like me and would prefer to "rough it," with the added bonuses of running water, a bed, refrigerator, coffeemaker, cable TV, and A/C...then you will find the cabins at Waianae a... In the early morning hours of 26 January we had a person break-in through the bathroom window after being lifted up from outside and cutting the screen. This was done while 4 adults and 2 children were sleeping. The intruder grabbed 2 bags and went out the front door. We were one of 3 break-ins in the 3 adjoining cottages... More
