My husband, 2 year old daughter, 3 month old son, husband's parents and I stayed at the Hale Mauka-Makai “Mountain-Ocean House” for one week in October 2009. We had a fantastic time and I would recommend this place to a friend. Service: Zack was professional, organized, friendly and prompt from my original booking on through the follow-up after we returned... more

The property we stayed at was tastefully decorated and had all the amenities...great sound system, large kitchen with stainless steel appliances, comfortable beds, jacuzzi, BBQ and snorkel/kayak rentals. It was a quiet and relaxing get-away from the crowded and heavily trafficked areas of Waikiki. This is the only place on the North Shore area I've stayed at and have no... more

A brief three-night stay at Hale Ko'olau will always be remembered as one of my favorite trips of all time. The vista is stunning. The beach is beautiful. The weather is temperate. The experience was a refreshing change from the typical congestion in the tourist-populated areas of Hawaii. Hale Ko'olau has become a standard by which I'll inevitably compare any... more

PRIOR to arriving in Hawaii, my experience with Hale Koolau was very good. They returned my phone calls quickly, made changes to our reservations without charging a fee, and were very polite and courteous. AFTER arriving (which was Labor Day) and trying to check in, I had difficulty making contact with them. I called the person who was supposed to... more

Thank you very much for your review. There is absolutely no excuse for not having someone there when you arrived and we have discussed this with the employee. You have our most sincere apologies for this. We have investigated the sleeper sofa and it appears that a spring had rusted and broken, we have replaced it and it is working...

I have just a few things to post about these rentals. The one we stayed in is the Hale Makai (Ocean House). They are right on the beach, but in no way shape or form is anyone going to snorkel or swim off this beach. There is no air conditioning and when you leave the house the windows don't lock... more

I'm writing in response to the review sent in for our property entitled "Little things can mean a lot." Actually, it is very possible to snorkel and swim in the ocean right off our property, as I have seen other guests snorkel, swim, take photos and kayak in the water. I have also done this myself as well. These things...

We were very pleased with our accomodations. We were very pleased with the hospitality and professionalism of all workers encountered. The ammenities were superb also. We had their breakfast buffet after eating out at a private restaurant in Waikik. We used the breakfast buffet for the remaining of our stay. It is an excellent buffet for the money. The service... more

Our trip started out on the wrong foot from the start because our flight was late in arriving, so we were all extremely tired while squinting in the dark to find the address from the road-which we had troubles with and ended up passing it a few times. Once we found it, getting our car into the very tight parking... more

Thank you for your review, although I do have to point out that you prejudiced your review by stating that you arrived tired and unhappy. This is always a bad start to any vacation. It also appears that you arrived after midnight which required self-entry and I know how difficult and annoying that can be. Overall, I think the review...

We stayed in Waikiki for the first 3 nights and then moved on to Hale Ko'olau for the last 5 nights. We stayed in the kauai kai studio which is in the back of the property on the 2nd floor. Not much of a view from there but it is only 100 feet from the beach as you walk around... more

I decided to visit Hale Ko'olau for a weekend getaway from the hustle-and-bustle of the city. Wow, was I impressed. Although the North Shore is only 30-45 minutes away from Waikiki, it seems like it is a world away. The property is located directly on the ocean...the coolest part was the hot tub (there are 2) that is along the... more

We were very pleased with our stay at Kauai Kai at Hale Ko'olau in Hauula, Oahu. We would stay there again. Our favorite part was the view of the ocean and the waves splashing up on the deck just yards from our door. The hot tub by the ocean was the best, even better than the hot tub just outside... more
