We had a great experience at Hale Koolau in September 2012. A large group of ladies got together to retreat. We stayed in the Mauka Makai and were very comfortable. We had adequate sleeping space and accomodations. 2 kitchens made our stay and activities very convenient. We had pregnant women, elderly and disabled women and everyone was very satisfied. The... After the awesome stay I had in this unit, reading the review from user "January S" made me chuckle. As a manager at an international hotel chain, I have encountered his kind before and let me say that there is very little that you can do to please these types of people short of comping their entire stay (even then,... Our stay at Hale Ko'olau was good but not great due to several shortcomings. Positives. The location was perfect for us as we wanted to stay on the North Shore away from Waikiki. We were able to drive around the entire island without much hassle and felt the property was ideally situated in this respect. Definitely centrally located to hit... More

This house is so dirty! Black mold in the bathtubs with mildew in the grout. Soap scum ring in the tubs! Mold and mildew in the kitchen sink. Broken drawers in the refrigerator and broken ice machine (have to buy bags of ice from store). Broken blinds in windows throughout the house. Dust everywhere! So dusty! The vent filter appeared... My husband & I stayed here for a week over New Years. We loved it! The house was spacious and very clean upon arrival. Eventhough we didn't have ocean front, we could see & hear the ocean. The grounds were so pretty and the hot tub was warm for us each night. The location was awesome, a short trip to... More

If you want to stay in a rundown Motel 6 but pay Hilton prices, this is the place for you!! We have stayed in many condo rentals on vacation and have never had one that was this ill-equipped and fraught with other issues. The furniture is very rundown with drawers that do not open or close, the fridge has a... More

Well it always happens that we get one or two ugly reviews each year which are completely out of line with our other guest reviews and the reality. I'm the owner of the property and the one who checked the guests in. For starters I never offered to remove the sliding closet doors. I simply explained to the guests that... More

The Lanai area was huge and had a fantastic view of the ocean. The upstairs unit was very spacious. The downstairs living room and master bedroom had great ocean views as well. The layout is great for families to spend time together. The owners are constantly improving the units by enclosing the parking so you don't see the cars when... More

We are vacationing with 2 boys (9&5 years), and this is best place that we chose. We are having great fun in peaceful north shores, close to great beaches. Even though beach in Huala is rocky, the one right in front of us, we are 5 mins away from some of the great private beaches with literally no crowd.. Property... More

Great location and privacy in our charming studio. Small but has everything one needs for relaxation with a hot tub right outside of the room. A quiet a/c which is a first in my travels and can keep the sliding door open as well for a cool breeze and small ocean view. Great value!,

Mahalo for your positive review. We're happy that you enjoyed your stay and the ultra quiet mini-split A/Cs we have in our rentals. We find them to be much more efficient and relaxing (quiet) than typical window a/c. Of course with the ocean just 80 feet away there is normally a cool ocean breeze day and night. More

We have a bunch of family that stayed at Hale Ko'olau and rented 9 units in total. It is the perfect place for large family or groups of friends that want their own space but still want to be together. Each unit has everything you need to feel at home -coffee maker, blender, toaster etc. The location is right on... More

Aloha and mahalo for your review. We're happy that you found what you were looking for on your vacation. As for the sand on the beach, it was affected recently by the hurricanes which passed close to the islands. This type of erosion is not unusual in the islands and has affected many other beaches. Luckily with some time the... More
