The Hilltop Cottage on Molokai's east side is a hidden treasure! If you are looking to awaken to the sound of birds, enjoy spectacular views from your large, private deck and enjoy the real Hawaii, this is the place. Several small, secluded, public beaches offer safe swimming and snorkeling and are wonderful spots to picnic, read, paint or just relax.The... More

The Hilltop Cottage is an amazing little place to stay and yes, as you've read, the house is in need of some repair but it is kept very clean and to us that was the most important factor and the view from the Lanai is simply SPECTACULAR!! We sat every morning enjoying our coffee and watching the whales...what a gift... More

We booked this for the 2nd half of our honeymoon. Knowing that it was old Hawaii, wanting seclusion, privacy, amazing views of both Maui and Lanai from our lanai, the hilltop cottage was perfect. Reading through the guest book and some reviews, the guests concur that if you want resort quality experience this is not (nor probably Molokai) the place... More

Molokai is more than a place, it's a state of mind. If I want the Ritz with mints on the pillow, a consierge and all that, then Maui has a Ritz. But if I want the best in genuine Hawaiian living? I would go to Molokai and step into a magic time machine that takes you back 50 years or... More

Loved the rustic cottage and its incredible views. Having lived in Hawaii 30 years ago, it felt like coming home. The cottage was neat, clean and perfectly located to feel completely away from it all. The winding main road to get to it requires careful navigation but the vistas are lovely: Lanai, Maui, Kahoolalawe, royal fishponds. Turning left out of... More

Hilltop Cottage has a Fantastic View, unfortunately it ends there, it is an overpriced grubby place. Pros – View, Nice bath, Satellite TV Cons – Very very tired and filled with thrift shop furniture, shower only warm, curtains dirty, windows broken, door screens broken, bugs galore, no wi-fi, grossly overpriced How this cottage got 41/2 stars is a mystery to... As all of the other reviewers have said, the view from this secluded, charming cottage is worth the price on its own: a large deck wraps around the back of the cottage looking out on Maui and Lanai (we watched the 4th of July fireworks off in the distance on Maui); on a clear day you can even see Kahoolawe.... If you are looking for a romantic and peaceful get away and are used to a rustic environment this is the place for you. Our stay was unbelievable, total privacy...views to die for and a perfect breeze every evening. The cottage is set up for those who like to cook their own meals and save money by not having to... Well, I have to start by saying I'm surprised to see there is a bad review on here. Those people sound like they best stick to Waikiki. The hilltop cottage was fantastic! It is not marketed as luxury so we didn't have high expectations, but it's gorgeous, homely and calming like no other accommodation I've stayed at in Hawaii. It's... More

When we first arrived on Molokai, we had reservations at the Hotel Molokai, reportedly the island’s only hotel, and reviews had led us to book a room with an ocean view. Expecting cooler temperatures, we chose a second story room with only fans. It had a lovely view, but it was a tiny cozy room. It seems we had the... More
