I loved my stay at the Bungalow. I went with a really open mind because I had read some of the not so favourable reviews and was a little concerned. I found the staff and fellow travellers to be very helpful. The house keeping staff was plentiful and thorough. Not all the tours were for me so I found the... More

I was decieved by the advertisement, especially that "Let's Go" rated this place high. I booked and arrived and what I saw was really horrible. It's run-down and dirty and really in the middle of nowhere. That's why they have tours, but you have to check in early to benefit; otherwise you don't go anywhere and stare at the dirty... More

I stayed at the Banana Bungalow last month . I actually had a more pleasant experience than I was expecting. It is very good value for money for single travelers or for college students and young couples. The cheapest rooms at other hotels were 3 times the price and did not really look any better in pics than this one.... More

We are budget travelers and tend to stay in $50/night hotels in the states. We took great stock in the Maui Revealed review of this place. This is a great place to stay for people with essentially no money like teenagers and singles who aren't rich. However, the average traveler will not enjoy this place. We saw a car getting... More

Under no circumstance should you stay here unless you really have no money (Maui is very expensive) and you are prepared to sleep in soiled linen. After the usual horrific (and lengthy) 12 hour trip to Maui from Canada I arrived at this pest hole to "enjoy" the very room that is pictured in the Trip Advisor picture at the... More

First off, let`s get it straight. This is a hostel. If you`re looking for the Four Seasons, It`s in Wailea. Yes, Wailuku is a less than desireable area of Maui, but from my experience people that generally stay at hostels aren`t planning on spending they`re time there. The hostel itself may have seen better days, but i think it adds... More

Staff was great! Room was okay but the sheets hadn't been changed for our stay.Restrooms were close by our room, but we wore shower shoes to make sure fungus didn't get among us! We had more than our share of room mates! Bugs are to be expexted and they hid when we tried to capture them. The geicos were cute but... More

If you're an adventurer, enjoy other cultures and peoples and don't like to break your bank account, the Banana is the place to stay. Just completed my seventh and best trip to the Islands. The staff is friendly and knowledgable and the guests come from around the world. The hostel even attracts the well educated and well healed, although they... More

Did that grab your attention? Good. Let me tell you why to avoid this pit at all costs. I decided to go to Maui over summer as a treat to myself for getting through year one of college and when I initally found Banana Bungalow I was very happy. Supposedly I would be getting a decent hostel at a great... More

Hawaii is beautiful. This place was a dump. Next time, save our money and stay in a nice hotel. Pay cheap, get cheap. In a horrible part of town as well. Place smelled like dirty water and filthy underwear.
