Hot and noisy. Ever wonder what it's like to sleep in a developing country? Try the Kuau Inn! Our room was upstairs and had no air conditioning. Only a sad little fan that only blew hot air around. Our room also faced Hana Highway, which is noisy at all hours of the night... except maybe 4am-6am. You can shut the... More

Thank you for your comments. Yes, it can get hot in Hawaii, especially if there are no trade winds. Most people expect it to be hot when they come here. The upstairs rooms will generally cool down with the trade winds if the windows are left open for the cross breeze. We do not have air conditioning in the home... More

My daughter and I had a second wonderful stay at the Kuau Inn... Our first stay was in 2013. The owners, Neal & Julie, do everything they can to keep this a really nice, pleasant and clean place to stay. It really is our cup of tea. Everything is kept clean, the breakfast foods are always restocked, and the location... More

My husband and I were looking for a place to stay in Paia after our Road to Hana trip, and came across this. It was fairly reasonably priced (for Maui) and seemed convenient. Was a little disconcerted when, after I had booked and paid online, we received an email saying there would be an additional $35 "cleaning fee" added to... More

Loved it! Comfortable, well-located, and affordable place to stay on the north side of Maui near Paia. This isn't a party scene or hotel...more like your friend's (super clean) house where you happen to be staying. Other guests were respectful/considerate, late 20s to early 50s couples/etc, mostly folks who enjoyed a beverage or two on the porch at night but... More

This is basically a house with various rooms set aside for travelers. The kitchen is available to all residents, and a small stock of breakfast supplies is available. Rooms are lockable. We had the only room with an en suite, it was comfortable and reasonably roomy. The experience is probably going to depend on who is staying in the other... More

The property itself was nice and as with any vacation rental, there were both pros and cons. My husband and I travel a lot and I have to admit that I return to and recommend those places which I feel deserve to have more business...because the business offered is something that I feel is worthy. Although there were definitely some... More

There are other places to stay on majestic Maui, I am certain however, there are no other places as magical as the Kuau Inn, in Paia. A simple B&B with all the charming amenities and without the hassle. You feel at home here. The fridge is stocked with the basics and there's a lovely grocery in Paia for specific dietary... More

This B&B is a converted house that has 5 rooms and 2 - 3 community bathrooms. The young, friendly innkeepers live in a 6th bedroom and seem to be avid surfers. The upstairs bathroom has a tub without a shower, so we generally used the bathroom next to the kitchen for bathing. Everything was clean; the bed was comfortable. The... More

The house is very beautiful, rooms are very clean and comfortable. No a/c so it could get a little warm during the day, but at nights it was perfect. Rooms are not cleaned though or fixed and you prepare your own breakfast. On the other side, you can use the kitchen to cook if you need it.

Kuau inn is located in a quiet place away from the most touristy locations. You will find breakfast in the fridge and lovely people taking care of you. I would recommend eggs in a hole for breakfast, which is a Kuau inn speciality. If you dont know how to make it, you can ask the hosts, Haley and Ryan, they... More
