Staying at Hale Ho'okipa is like staying at Grandmother's house -- if your Grandma is an environmentally-friendly, culturally literate gracious hostess living in a lovingly restored 1920's Arts and Crafts house. The atmosphere is warm and congenial but never overbearing or suffocating, and definitely chinz-free. Potpourii - free, too, which is important for those of us with sensitive noses! Communal... Such a great place to stay in Maui. Makawao is a sweet little town at the base of the volcano. Hale Ho'okipa is a delightful 90 year-old craftsman style Hawaiian farm house surrounded by lovely gardens. . Cherie has done a great job remodeling and decorating to make the B and B a comfortable and fun place to be. The... More

Walking in reminded me of coming into my grandmother's house. Cherie does and excellent job preserving the home and decor accentuates, not only its beauty, but the Maui experience. Having an extremely healthy, fresh breakfast with daily variety changes how wonderfully you can start your day. Maui is a small island, if you are looking at staying near the isthmus,... More

My husband and I spent a wonderful week @ Hale Hookipa . It's a lovingly restored and decorated plantation house located in a quiet residentail area of Makawao. The house has a large open dining room (and adjacent kitchen) with a living room with comfortable seating and stocked with loads of books on Maui and the islands .Guest rooms are... More

My wife, daughter and I stayed here back in July for a week. We had a spectacular time. Each day we started with a wonderful, organic breakfast with different fruits and delicacies from all over the island. Our host, Cherie, knows the best fruit stands on Maui to buy fruit from. She also supplements the food with food from her... More

I stayed at Hale Hoókipa for 4 nights whilst I explored the Haleakala crater and surrounds. I was enchanted by the décor and Cheri was a welcoming and helpful hostess. My room (Hibiscus) was light and airy with a very comfortable bed and plenty of space to spread out. The free wireless internet connection and access to tea and coffee... More

We had one night en route to Hana to stay anywhere in Maui and we chose Makawao. After looking through all the options we stumbled across Hale Ho'okipa Inn and we are so glad we found it! We love historic Inns and B&Bs. Cheri has done a tremendous job restoring this old plantation house, while maintaining aloha through a delicious... More

I stayed at Hale Ho'okipa for a week with my parents and was very grateful we chose to stay there. (We had heard really nice things about it from some relatives who often stay at Hale Ho'okipa when they are on Maui.). Everything about this B&B inn was perfect for us and we felt so relaxed in the peaceful and... More

Cheri's B&B is tucked away in central Maui, an ideal spot not just for accessing all the cool stuff around the island but also for keeping clear of the busy resorts along the coast. The house is gorgeous and has loads of Japanese fans for some reason (we even ended up in a photo shoot for a Japanese magazine during... More

If you want to get into the real Maui, this is your place, set in a residential area, but easy driving distance from many tourist areas. Real people, real food, real living. Ho'okipa means "hospitality", and that is what you'll find here. Breakfast is a divine plethora of organic tropical fruits, yogurts, cereals, breads, and variety of beverages. You can... More
