i spent 3 nights there with my parents. It was really fantastic, and I'm really grateful to Cherrie (the owner) to welcome us as she did. The location is a bit off the beaten tracks, but that's what we were looking for and it's difficult to be better located when you want to visit the Haleakala National Park. Don't forget... more

This is a must-do location if you're seeing the sunrise at Haleakala or driving the Road to Hana. Also close to the town of Paia, sort of eclectic and fun, with a variety of restaraunts and beach. The owner of the B&B is VERY helpful and a great hostess. The price is a bonus for sure! We stayed in the... more

A very quaint and comfortable place to stay with charm of old Hawaii. The establishment is located in a residential cul-de-sac in town, so one shouldn't expect an incredible Hawaiian view or experience. Expect a bit of noise too, especially early morning, since everyone in the neighborhood seems to have a rooster. The rooms were well appointed for a bed... more

Thanks for the feedback, my goal is for guests to enjoy themselves. Really wonderful guests stay with me, and I like to share all the wonders Maui has to offer. In response to the lack of CFL bulbs in the house, I did change them all and found the quality of light very uncomfortable. Now I have a combination of...

I wrote a review after returning last year, but, sitting at home and dreaming of staying at Ho'okipa Hale again, I realised that it didn't seem to have posted. The house is beautifully restored with loving attention to period detail. Antique furniture and furnishings contribute to the homely feel of the Inn - I even had a cast-iron bathtub with... more

We liked the 'old' feel to this cottage-like bed and breakfast and the host was really nice and helpful. We appreciated her healthy breakfasts. This was a good location if you want to explore the north shore or go up to the crater. Cute little town. more

It is was obvious to me when we arrived that we were being welcomed into someone's home- the working garden, the cozy living room, the original bedrooms, leaving our shoes on the porch, chatting with the owner... this historic Hawaiian homestead is not your normal hotel experience. If you love B and B's, eating homegrown mangoes, and getting directions from... more

Aloha, I am pleased to see folks being happy with the "home" style of Hale Ho'okipa Inn Makawao. A quick response to the breakfast issue, by law in Maui County, we are not allowed to cook for our guests. If someone wants to hard boil their own eggs, no problem. There is cheese and nut butters provided for the toasts....

What a wonderful experience of "aloha". I live on Oahu, and my two girlfriends and I were just looking for a nice weekend off-island. We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. The owner/manager, Cherie, has created a place where everyone can experience "true Hawaii." Breakfast was excellent with a smorgasbord of local fruits, jellies, coffee and juices, rounded... more

We recently returned from a 9 day trip to Hawaii which included a three night stay at the Hale Ho'okipa Inn. I normally don't write reviews and I normally don't stay at B & B's, but I have to take issue with the reviewer of 5/28/08 who had several problems with this Inn. My only problem with the place is... more

We stayed here the last 2 nights of our honeymoon. We had another place booked but that ended up being a dive so around 7:30 that night we called the owner and she had a room available and was so gracious to take us in. The inn was very charming and had alot of history. We enjoyed it very much... more

Stayed 1 night at the Hale Ho'okipa Inn. We don't normally frequent B&B's so we have little to compare this one to. We wanted a location that was close to the airport and this served the purpose very well. We started to walk to "town" for dinner but soon realized that it was no "short stroll". The road is busy... more

Aloha, I appreciate all the feedback from my guests, as I strive to always improve my business and what I offer to my guests. I do state on my site that the house is located in a cul-de-sac , with a 5 minute walk to town. I tell guests that the first block does not have a good sidewalk, but...
