We stayed 2 nights with Cherie in August. Prior to arriving, I had read her blog and exchanged emails with her, so I knew what to expect. We arrived finding the house clean, quiet, and our Rose room perfectly comfortable. As mentioned in some of the other reviews, Cherie is often off-site and offers self-check-in by placing paper instructions with... More

We spent at Hale Ho'okipa five nights, besides another party of two which mostly spent only one or two nights there we were the only guests (in August!). We have a lot of B&B experience around the globe (Europe, Africa, Australia). What we like at an B&B is the passion of landlords and landladies, they typically generate an atmosphere where... More

Stayed with Cherie at Ho'okipa the last night of our trip to be closer to airport (had been in Hana). The house is incredibly charming and restful and our room (we stayed in the Kona Wing) was incredibly comfortable and the bathroom was perfect. The room and bath were very clean and everything was well maintained. Plenty of screened windows... More

We came to Maui for my brothers funeral. Friends on the island recommended this B&B. Cherie, the Innkeeper , was gracious and helpful. I like my coffee early in the morning, so she had it set up, so all I had to do was start it. We loved the fresh fruits, some from her property, the local breads and jams... More

What a little gem in the super underrated Makawao town. A 20 min, scenic drive from Haiku/Paia, 30 min to Twin Falls, super secluded. Beautifully furnished, Asian touches everywhere. We stayed in the Rose room, just cozy enough for 3 of us. Fruity yard, fruit breakfast, sweet hospitality from Cheri, as from her neighbors and animals:)

My friend and I stayed in Hale Ho'okipa Inn for a couple days on our first trip to Hawaii. We stayed in the Jasmine room. We used the kitchen and found everything we needed. The inn is very nicely furnished, very cozy and has lots of rustic charm. Breakfast was awesome. There were a large variety of breads and spreads (10+... More

Staying at Hale Ho'okipa is like staying at Grandmother's house -- if your Grandma is an environmentally-friendly, culturally literate gracious hostess living in a lovingly restored 1920's Arts and Crafts house. The atmosphere is warm and congenial but never overbearing or suffocating, and definitely chinz-free. Potpourii - free, too, which is important for those of us with sensitive noses! Communal... Such a great place to stay in Maui. Makawao is a sweet little town at the base of the volcano. Hale Ho'okipa is a delightful 90 year-old craftsman style Hawaiian farm house surrounded by lovely gardens. . Cherie has done a great job remodeling and decorating to make the B and B a comfortable and fun place to be. The... More

Walking in reminded me of coming into my grandmother's house. Cherie does and excellent job preserving the home and decor accentuates, not only its beauty, but the Maui experience. Having an extremely healthy, fresh breakfast with daily variety changes how wonderfully you can start your day. Maui is a small island, if you are looking at staying near the isthmus,... More

My husband and I spent a wonderful week @ Hale Hookipa . It's a lovingly restored and decorated plantation house located in a quiet residentail area of Makawao.
