I stayed at Hale Ho'okipa for a week with my parents and was very grateful we chose to stay there. (We had heard really nice things about it from some relatives who often stay at Hale Ho'okipa when they are on Maui.). Everything about this B&B inn was perfect for us and we felt so relaxed in the peaceful and... More

Cheri's B&B is tucked away in central Maui, an ideal spot not just for accessing all the cool stuff around the island but also for keeping clear of the busy resorts along the coast. The house is gorgeous and has loads of Japanese fans for some reason (we even ended up in a photo shoot for a Japanese magazine during... More

If you want to get into the real Maui, this is your place, set in a residential area, but easy driving distance from many tourist areas. Real people, real food, real living. Ho'okipa means "hospitality", and that is what you'll find here. Breakfast is a divine plethora of organic tropical fruits, yogurts, cereals, breads, and variety of beverages. You can... More

This B and B is a delightful property. It has many original features and the rooms are jam-packed with fascinating ephemera. All set in verdant gardens which are the source of much of the fruit served at breakfast. Breakfast are self-service with a wide and generous range of mainly organic products. Teas, coffee etc are 'on tap'. There is a... More

We had a great few days at this historic and warm house. After a week in Kapalua we were ready to see a more real Hawaii and Makawao and Cherie did not disappoint! Rooms were comfortable and quiet, the other guests were interesting and the back porch was wonderful for relaxing after a very strenuous day hiking Haleakala.

One way to see Maui is to stay at a beach resort, where they present a carefully crafted vision of a Pacific Island, and you never have to walk more than a couple of minutes to buy a $20 drink and a $70 meal. Then there's upcountry Maui - the land of ranches, plantations, and locals (when I told the... More

Our 2 daughters stayed with us at Hale Ho'okipa for 2 nights earlier this month. Short drive from the airport, which was a blessing after a long day of travel. Always wanted to see Makawao. We happened to arrive as Cherie's family and friends were converging from all over the globe for her 60th birthday weekend celebration. Wonderful people, warm... More

My husband and I stayed at Hale Ho'okipa for a couple nights in February 2014 for the first time, and loved it. Really a great, historic, and charming place, with our host Cherie and her side-kick Lane providing a delicious continental breakfast (remarkably good fruit). Other guests included a couple of astronomers in town to work on some equipment at... More

We booked a very last minute trip and Cherie was able to accomodate us in the Hibiscus room. A small, cozy and private room with bathroom/shower. Lots of antiques and artwork from the island. The breakfast was a fantastic array of many types of fruits, with lots of different breads and cereals...even had eggs from her ducks available for eating... More

We stayed in some beautiful B&Bs on Maui, but this was our favourite. This historic house is full of character. The rooms are quite big and entirely unique. Cherie and Lane were very warm, welcoming and informative. The breakfast, especially the fruit, was excellent. We also liked Makawao as a quiet, but fairly central location.
