I have never been to Hawaii and was so looking forward to a relaxing time. We chose Unit D3 as the listing mentioned an ocean view. Yes, that was the only thing attractive about the unit. I could not tell if the carpet was peach, yellow, or tan as it was filthy. The refrigerator had mold on the seals and... More

This was our first stay at Kahana Sunset. We stayed in F2. It was very clean and been nicely updated. The owners should be proud. We rented through Sullivan property management and were very satisfied. The staff at Kahana Sunset went out of there way to make you feel welcomed and the grounds were gorgeous. The beach is small but... More

A trip to the Kahana Sunset 2 years ago was quite a disappointment, especially since the family has been regular visitors for over 20 years. In fact the trip was so dreadful we had decided not to go again. However my auntie really wanted to go back so we decided to give it one more shot in 2012. This time... More

We've stayed there twice, in 2007 and March 2012, both times with 2 kids, and my elderly Mom came in 2007. Also we know the owner of one of the upscale “F” units. It’s nice, but you need to make sure you get a recently-updated units, we hear stories that some of them are getting pretty run-down. The beach is... More

Our family enjoyed a 2 bed, 2 bath unit in Feb of 2012 on a reccommendation of a friend. This was the best of all worlds: close to Lahaina, but not in Kaanapali; a tropical feeling location, but without a ton of groundskeepers; this is a hotel that is a condominium. We have been to Maui a number of times... More

We've stayed at Kahana Sunset at least 10 times. Early on, the "F" building was our favorite because of the steps to the ocean and our younger children. Recent changes (thanks to the ocean) caused the condo owners to wall off the steps from F building. These units are still grand, but with married children and the changes, building "A"... More

The beach is right there, and is amazing- with gorgeous sunsets and soft sand, plus fun waves. We watched a sunset and were the only two people on the sand there! But, we found several cockroaches, including coming back from the beach to find one crawling on our cutting board and one flying and landing on me in the middle... More

We rented unit D7 and it was great! Beautiful kitchen, great TVs and stereo, large rooms and tasteful decor. There were five of us and it was plenty of space, no crowding. We did see turtles on the beach to the side and whales breached just off shore. The grounds are immaculate. The beach is very small, but only once... More

We know many people who have stayed at Kahana Sunset and after staying in the Westin/Grand Wailea decided to give this a try. We were in love! We stayed in unit A4 which was fabulous. I know many of the units are not remodeled and I would highly recommend only getting one that has been. We loved the location of... More
