The best part of the hotel is the location, right on the ocean front! Walkable to many restaurants, grocery store, gas station etc. The owner lives right on the property and are friendly takes care of special requests. This is more like bed and breakfast. Do not expect anything fancy! Rooms are okay, nothing special. I do want to point... More

a nice quiet place on the boundary of the ocean. Though it’s not exactly walkable from the main place of action, one would anyway have a pair of wheels whilst in maui. They also have beach paraphernalia but we missed using them. The owners are friendly but non intrusive…they have made the place self sufficient with all instructions in place... More

We returned for a 2nd stay after having a great time the last time we visited. We had a great time again everything was as good as the last time we stayed. You moaners that do not like the homely atmosphere go back to you plastic palaces were all chain hotels look the same so you do not know what... More

This place exceeded my expectations. The owners were very friendly, and the location could not be any better. I do not understand any of the negative reviews this place has had. In reference to being quiet after 9:30 I think that is just common respect to others. The rooms have character, they are not what you will see at a... More

I had the awesome opportunity to book nearly ten days at the Makai Inn. It is ideally located in Lahaina, Maui. Wi-Fi is present as well. It is perfectly priced, and within walking distance of restaurants and grocery stores; your choice for meals is wide open as you may go out to a variety of restaurants, or stay home and... More

Woke up covered in bed bug bites. Need I say more? Well, I will anyway... When you arrive, the front desk will probably be empty, but ringing the bell will work pretty quickly. There are signs all over the place telling you to be quiet ALL THE TIME. They are so invasive that we were actually a afraid to use... More

Thank you so much for your input. No one likes bedbugs, whether in a $500 New York hotel or a $30 hostel in the middle of town. We do take pests very seriously, and bedbugs are one of the biggest concerns that any accommodation provider is concerned with. After doing research on bedbugs, we have found that they are extremely... More

When I visit maui I want to stay on the ocean with a view. I read the negative reviews and think they are accurate. However, I'm willing to accept some cleaning negligence to stay with the ocean off my lanai for $150 as compared to $250-300 at the nice resorts. The location and view is amazing, I travelled by bike... More

If you want quiet, convenience and a killer view, this is a great place. If you are looking for a 24 hour party, or you have loud children, stay away. We had a 'garden view' room, it was only garden view because I had to stand up to look at the ocean. No beach access, but several lanais where we... More

We had a room on 2nd floor with balcony overlooking the ocean. We spent a lot of the day sitting outside enjoying the view. The room was clean & tidy. I don't know where the person who claims to have stayed in January 2013 and found it dirty because it was not this Hotel. Our stay here was February 2013 and... More
