Booked into this hostel for two nights. We arrived from LA after travelling from Ireland. Our flight was delayed by nine hours. We had no way of even getting to Lahaina from the airport as buses stop running at about 9pm. Luckily we managed to rent a car after trying several rental companies. Arrived to the hostel at 11pm approx... more

Due to the extortionate prices in lahaina and surrounding areas in Maui - we really didn't have much of a choice budget wise - The Hostel is by no standards great but its a place to sleep - its relatively clean. We stayed for 3 weeks switching between rooms sharing and private rooms with my friends. I got into an... more

We´re a couple road-tripping through the USA and have been to some very questionable places to sleep, but Patey´ s place in Lahaina, Maui is without a doubt the MOST CRAPPY place we´ve ever been to. We arrived at 10 o´clock in the morning and had plenty of luggage with us, the guys who were there told us we couldn´t... more

We sure didn't. I've stayed at plenty of hostels before, and felt much more comfortable than I did at Patey's Place. The standards of the International Hostels are not quite acheived. Whatever you do, dont book their "private" room. We booked a "private" room for two. How thin does the door need to be before its not called private anymore?... more

Can't beat the location! I loved stopping by Island Taco stand on the way home at night and generally walking around that area at all hours. But read on..... We stayed in a "private" room with private bath but it didn't feel private at all because it was in the middle of all foot traffic and noise. We were very... more

My sister and I stayed at Patey's Place over the course of an almost 2 week stay in Maui. We had a great experience there and it contributed to making it one of the best vacations ever. The staff are fantastic, Barry, Heather, Donna, Patrick and Eric are brilliant and staying there was like living with family. Affordable accomodation is... more

Although I had contacted Patey's Place a month prior to arriving (along with my credit card information and everything), they had failed to actually keep my reservation. I showed up and they didn't have any record of my reservation - not exactly the kind of professionalism I was expecting. I know that it's a hostel - but I would think... more

I have just returned from a 8 day stay at the Patey's Place in Paradise. The hostel is in great location in Lahaina, Maui, which is only two blocks from front street, and about a 10 minutes walk to the beach. If your going to drive around the island, which I did, it is a great location to center your... more

So we stayed at pateys place in Dec06. The location is excellent and located really close to the town of lahaina so good if you want to check out the night life or just be close to town. The beach is also really close with some good swimming and surfing spots. The hostel is a converted house/renovated rooms. The room... more

Stayed at Patey's a while ago before I'd even encountered TA site but felt I wanted to contribute to the reviews. I stayed in Pateys after landing in Maui from New Zealand via Honolulu (slept in the airport there and got a 6am flight out!) Having stayed at NorthShore and Banana Bungalow and later in the Green Tortoise Hostels in... more
