"Rustic" definitely describes the cabin we stayed in for 7 nights. Comfortable bed in our cabin, but the one in my sister's cabin was strangely squishy. Musty, but constantly running the dehumidifier helps with that. No view from the 3 cabins our family occupied, as the trees obscure the view. No wifi in the room. No TV, either if that... More

My boyfriend and I stayed one night at the Kula Lodge during our trip to the upcountry. We wanted to stay close to the volcano so our drive would be shorter to watch the sunrise on Haleakala. The room was cozy and perfect for us. The small electric fireplace in front of the bed kept us plenty warm. We stayed... More

Wonderful food and views of their garden and outdoor pizza oven. We loved it here. The pizzas were hand made and carried outside to a huge outdoor, unusual pizza oven. Their garden is full of unusual flowers and plants to explore.

We stayed at Kula Lodge for three nights after Hana and before Wailea. The first impression was mixed, especially after staying at a modern, recently renovated property that was upscale. But as we settled in we found the room and the property charming. The view is amazing, the surrounding gardens lush and nice to view, and the room itself had... More

We have had lunch here in the past and have seen it going downhill. I had a prime rib sandwich for $22 that was awful. The waitress refilled my Coke with ice tea and acted confused that the sandwich came with horseradish sauce. I feel they think they will have customers just because of the view. Too bad-it is a... It is a great place to stop the night before seeing the sunrise at the summit of the volcano, but the price is steep. Especially when you consider the room was small and smelled like mildew...it's a trade off I don't know if we'd make again. Make sure you don't park inside the gate if you're heading out early too,... More

I can't say enough good things about the place. It is rustic, but has the mountain charm. You feel like you're experiencing a different part of Hawaii. The staff was very accommodating and looked out for my grandparents when I was on the mountain. Beautiful views. Food was great and not slow. We had Wifi in our room. The lodge... More

We got seated right away and the view was amazing! You can see both shorelines from the panaromic windows in the back. We got pizza from their brickoven pizza, which you can also see them making out back! The pizza was amazing! Ceasar salads were great too! Service was good as well. After lunch we walked around their gardens which... More

The Kula Lodge has great food to go along with the great view. Dinner at sunset is especially nice. Make sure to stop in to the Kula Marketplace while you are there. It's a great little boutique shop that has items you won't find anywhere else on Maui.

No TV, no WIFI, but a lovely, cool, mountainside setting unique to the island. No refrigerator or microwave, but a great restaurant on property, as well as a marketplace with a wide selection of foods and wine. The staff is very friendly and helpful. If you truly want to getaway from the resorts, this is your retreat. There may be... More
