I hesitate to recommend the Panuahoa to people, because it's already so hard to book due to its popularity -- you'll be lucky if it has availability less than a couple of months in advance. Aside from that, it's really a great place to stay. The only thing between your room's private lanai and the ocean is 50 feet of... more

This was our 5th visit to Maui & the Punahoa is my favorite vacation rental so far. An intimate building in a residential neighborhood you really feel like you're at home. We had unit 402, which is billed as a "penthouse" unit on the top / 4th floor (acess via stairs or elevator). The unit had everything we needed, plenty... more

Every balcony overlooks a beautifully manicured lawn and waves come rolling in. You can see other islands from you balcony. It is quiet. Very, very nice. I'll stay nowhere else in Maui more

After doing much research and reading many reviews, we stayed at Punahoa in mid-September for the last 5 days of our Honeymoon (the first 5 were in Kauai). When we first arrived we were a little unsure of the location, but we were pleasantly surprised during our stay with very friendly management and the best views of the sunset that... more

My husband and I stayed here for a week during our honeymoon in October 2004 and loved the Punahoa. The rooms were clean, the location was quiet and convenient and less "touristy" than some other areas on Maui and the view of the ocean from our unit was completely amazing. We appreciated having a kitchen as we were able to... more

This was our second visit here. It's a 20 minute drive from the airport. We stayed in a one bedroom unit on the second floor, and we were able to surf for 7 days of our 9 day visit. We kept our boards in the basement, checked the swells from the deck in the predawn light, and launched from the... more

Just returned from Maui - spent 5 days at Punahoa Beach Apt and 4 days in Hana. A few comments: The location of the Apartments is great - on a quiet street right on the beach. However, there aren't many good restaurants in Kihei - we ended up driving to Lahaina 2 nights to eat (~35 min drive each way).... more

I still dream about this vacation! The condos were absolutly amazing and perfect. Half our trip was in Punahoa and half was in the Four Season Maui - we liked Punahoa, the convenient access to the beach, the local stores, etc. far better than at the Four Season (mind you, it was NICE, but not where I'd choose to stay).... more

Loved this complex. Stayed here last summer and can't wait to go back. If you rather have a big hotel scene with a pool this is not for you. The only drawback was the traffic noise on the bedroom side at night. I often moved into the front room and slept on the pullout sofa. You cannot get too much... more

How can you not love a condo where you can watch the sun set on the ocean right in front of you every night? I don't think you can get better value for your money for a beach front place in Maui, especially since it's on a quiet side road away from the traffic. The room (304, studio) was clean,... more
