We adored our stay in Hana thanks, in part, to this lovely property. We stayed in the two bedroom house for two nights...the location and privacy were just what we desired. Chris & Leokane are marvelous hosts and have excellent recommendations for hikes & sight-seeing. The Bamboo Forest is a must-see! My ONLY regret is that I didn't heed other's... More

This place was great. The house is beautifully decorated. The kitchen is well-stocked obviously by someone who likes to cook. There were also lots of little amenities like robes, a bowl of fruit and fresh flowers all around the house when we arrived. The house is just minutes from Hana. We really enjoyed our stay and were reluctant to leave... More

Such a great, special place to stay. We stayed one night, decided to dine in. Cooked our own meal with food bought from nearby store. The house was well stocked. Wished we could stay longer, but had to move on to other side of the island. Very close to Hamoa beach park, nice secluded location. This place has wonderful charm,... More

My daughter, grown, and I spent 6 delightful days in Hana staying in the 2 bedroom guest cottage/house. It was so clean, well-stocked with just about anything you could need, large and spacious. The location is perfect as well.I can't recommend it highly enough! The owners, Leokane and Chris, are so friendly and helpful, and Leokane entertains a couple nights... More

We spent three days in Hale Ulu Lulu in January - I wish it had been longer. It was just long enough for Hana to begin to "seep into our bones" and we loved every minute of it. Our first impression when we walked in the door that the cottage was too nice for us, but we quickly got over... More

My wife and I stayed 11 nights on Maui and 5 of them were in the Hale Manu house in Hana. Wow, Hana is a special place. We especially loved the house. Leokane and Chris have really thought of everything to make this place special and comfortable. We love to cook and everything we needed was right there. Going to... More

Go to Hana to enjoy Hawaii without all of the hype and commercialism. Stay at The Guest Houses at Malanai because they'd feel like Old Hawaii. Or at least my idea of what Old Hawaii should be. We stayed in the Hale Ulu Lulu, which is a remodeled sugar plantation house. It is totally private with a great view of... More

We stayed three nights in the Hale Manu House and had a very enjoyable experience. Staying in Hana for several nights allows you to explore the area in much more detail and the Hale Manu House was well equipped, easy to find, well located, clean, spacious and very comfortable. Delicious fresh fruit, excellent coffee to grind for our morning breakfast,... More

Just the place to delight the senses! The cottage welcomes you with open arms amidst orchids in the entry way and about. The large living and dining room are flooded with light. Wonderful claw-foot bath tub with shower...really, all you could need to be a culinary chef. Internet...Can't think of a thing that left me wanting, except for more time... More

We stayed at Hale Ulu Lulu January 5 & 6, 2014 for two nights. The light and fresh breezes throughout the cottage are refreshing and energizing. The open floor plan and clever sliding wall panel in the bedroom makes this residence feel wonderfully spacious and comfortable. We loved the decor -- unique Hawaiian furnishings, beautiful bead board walls and substantial... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
We offer two impeccably maintained, fully furnished, ocean view homes in one of Hana’s finest locations. We are directly across from the Maka’alae pasturelands and ocean and also situated within walking distance to world famous Hamoa Beach and Venus Pool. Each home is landscaped for privacy on our approximately two-acre property. We live in a separate home on the property, so you have the security of knowing that your rental is well maintained and though we honor your privacy, we make ourselves available to assist you when needed. Both of our guesthouses have stack washer/dryers, tub and shower combinations (a oversized claw foot tub in Hale Ulu Lulu and a spa tub in Hale Manu) and enjoy the convenience of “on the grid” wi-fi, electricity, free telephone to US/Canada, cable and water. We consistently receive rave reviews on our attention to detail and thoughtfully equipped homes. ... more   less
