We stayed in the Bamboo Temple and it was a great place. Unfortunately we arrived after dark and in the middle of a thunderstorm which made the place a challenge to find. The road is a little bumpy and off the beaten trap and gets a little slick in areas when it rains. We found the place and upon entering... More

Finding the Maui Retreat is all part of the adventure, but with the excellent driving directions, it was a breeze during the day. Upon arrival my husband and I were greeted by William, who explained that Raphael, one the owners, would show us to our retreat for the week – the Bamboo Temple. After Raphael showed us the temple, he... More

I was trying to find the perfect location to make the day and night of my engagement to my fiancee something to remember... well I don't think I could have found anywhere in the world that compares to our experiences with Maui Retreat. I was able to book my reservation with ease, and had my detailed questions answered over the... More

Many people say they loved there stay here. I wish I had not stayed here. I did not like being told to put ALL my used toilet paper in the waste bin by the toilet. I did not like my 100% polyester sheets. I did not like sharing my bathroom with four guests and with four other people associated with... More

We deeply appreciated that you wrote to us in an earlier email: "I would like to write something that encourages the people who would like the retreat to go there and enjoy it. AND I would like to include information that would let travelers like me know that they should go to the other resorts that are not as concerned... More

We spontaneously got the 'Mandala Temple' in the enchanting and beautiful maui eco retreat. Everything is built with a lot of love for the detail, mostly in indian/butan style, and every corner gets its attention. There are few solitary housings/temples spread over their estate, which got as much to see; statues, hidden pool, private ocean entry... our temple didn't have... More

This place is awesome. Staying here gives you the feeling of being "local" and experiencing Maui the way it was intended. None of that touristy nonsense and quiet man, quiet. Plenty of nothing to do, which makes for the best vacation ever. If you must leave the property, there many things to do close by, like driving down the Hana... More

I was travelling back to Australia from the States and decided it was way past time to visit Hawaii. Maui was the island that spoke to my heart and through a mutual friend Maui Eco Retreat found me and I'm so glad it did. I felt safe to relax, explore, rest and revive my spirit, mind and body and the... More

I went to Maui Retreat in search of downtime and knowledge. I received that and so much more. I was constantly stunned by the beauty of the buildings and the ocean views. I loved the hike through the jungle to the private lagoon. The people were all friendly and welcoming, and Raphael was a wonderful host, going out of his... More

This isn't the kind of place you go if you're interested in a 5 star resort with Olympic sized swimming pools and gift shops. This is the definition of peaceful. You come here and really learn a lot about yourself and the land. In my opinion this is the nicest place on the island. I'm not a fan of the... More

An Amazing experience. It is so peaceful A meditation building overlooking the ocean. It is definitely an eco-retreat. The owners are very pleasant. The accommodation were good. The smell of sandalwood permeated the dining room and the kitchen. The views from the room and gardens are breathtaking. The drive to the place is through a dirt wooded road. Was not... More
