Stayed here for one night plus although we paid for two nights. We picked this place so we could hike the incredible Canyon. Unfortunately the cottage we were given # 74 had a most overpowering scent of mildew, compost ,urine and decay that the management had some how recognized as every window and screen door was open and the fans... Waimea Plantation Cottages is exactly what it sounds like - a series of cottages, raised slightly above ground level, and each separated from the other by a generous amount of space. After signing in a a large wooden building, we drove slowly on a nice dirt road to find our cottage #47. In my mind, as we entered the cottage,... More

Our first time in Kauai and we loved the Plantation Cottages. We were there December 5 - 10, 2014, and off season. There were only a few guest. We enjoyed the quiet ( except for the roosters, with whom we made friends), the trees and plants in the compound, and the shore. Waimea is down home and very Hawaiian. We... More

Wow! What a disappointment... we ate at the hotel restaurant twice in 2012, and explored the grounds with enthusiasm, planning a return trip with our children. It was SO NICE> What we couldn't know was that the cottages are no where near as well kept as the main building- we could see though the floor to the ground in many... More

These cottages in the tiny and very unique town of Waimea are absolutely ideal for people who love "old Hawaii" - who don't want to be sealed off from the beautiful environment around them. Everything is completely functional, but there are no luxury touches. The staff is very nice and very helpful. The pool's great. The landscaping's informally awesome. You're... More

We stayed at the cottages to be close to the Canyon. Our cottage was quite close to the sea - so we could fall asleep lisening to the sound of the waves. Everything was really clean even though the furniture was a little bit old. But there was enough space in the cottages. The kitchen is small but well equiped... More

Very nice atmosphere for people who prefer not to sleep in big hotels, the hotel fee for use of internet and pool is not acceptable in my opinion but that`s a personal decision for everybody to take..

We spent two nights in cabin 49 and were grateful for the upgrade to this oceanfront location. Aaron checked us in--a most delightful and helpful man whom we stopped in to see for further advice the next day. It was nice to have fresh water, juice and coffee available in the lobby. Our cabin was charming and in good condition... More

Retired folks in our second stay at Waimea Plantation (after 10 years). We have stayed elsewhere on Kauai twice before we discovered WPC. Read the website to learn the history of and why "cottages" and an attempt to retain some of the cane plantation environment. Many people have written on this site of the various pluses. They are all true.... More

Starting with the positive, the check in was fast and efficient and when we were asked if this was a special occasion, we were presented with a bottle of sparkling wine and a bag of cookies. The grounds are gorgeous and the black-sand beach is a great place for a morning walk. I also got the best sunset photo of... More
