We stayed 4 nights at this resort. We were surprised there was no AC, but it was always windy, and we could open enough windows/patio doors to get a good cross-breeze at night. We were OK with leaving the patio doors open while sleeping at night (there are screens), although it'd be better if there were some locking mechanism so... more

No A/C which means you have to keep the windows open. Almost no airflow whatsoever in the 1300 block of units. It was stifling HOT! My daughter & I have asthma and really suffered. The unit was dirty as well. We rented from someone on VRBO & thought it would be a nice place based on the reviews. Please look... more

My sister and I stayed here in unit4307 rented through VRBO, and were very pleased. Our 2 bedroom 2 floor condo had unobstructed views of the ocean from the lanai, and the most gorgeous sunrises. The unit was immaculate and the beds were super comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and the bathrooms had just been redone. We used the... more

We rented knowing it was a townhouse unit but were not prepared for the steep steps to the bedrooms. There were 3 of us and as requested it had 3 bedrooms, the 3rd being a very small attic unit with a bathroom designed for children. We were probably remiss in not letting them know all 3 of us were 70... more

We booked the condo at the last minute after the Waimea Plantation Cottage we were given was basically in their maintenance area. We found the unit 5202 through Poipu Connections. The unit was perfect was us and our 2 school-age boys. 2 bed; 2 bath with a balcony hanging over the crashing surf. Wonderfully peaceful with fantastic whale watching. The... more

We shared an oceanfront condo with another couple. We were right at the southernmost tip of the island and had wonderful sunsets and sunrises from our lanai. No beach here, just a rocky shoreline with crashing waves that lulled you to sleep at night, and occasionally woke you up!. We stayed in Room 5201, 2nd floor of 2 story building,... more

Hi All I stayed in unit 3202 which I booked direct with the owner - Chad Slayton via the Vacation Rentals By Owner website. The unit reference number is 172184. I have stayed in some of Chads other properties and was so impressed with the high quality spec and attention to detail in his condos - this was no exception... more

Unit 2306 had a nice ocean view. Drier didn't work and the 1/2 bath pocket door wouldn't close, so it was useless. Place was partially update, kitchen was okay, baths not so nice. Comfortable beds. more

My travel agent recommended the Makahuena. We stayed in 5201, what a fabulous view. We were there five days and are planning to go back as soon as we can. You really experience the sights and sounds of the ocean and even in April we saw whales every day and pods of dolphin on three days. I love searching out... more

We stayed in two units because an Oceanview wasn't available on the first day of our stay, so they put us into a Gardenview for the first night. Unfortunately, we arrived just after 5 pm when the office closes and, after picking up our key from the bulletin board, discovered that the key didn't open up anything - so we... more
